Thursday

Not 4 digits but not too bad. I had two glasses of wine which put me 29 calories over my target but they were worth it. Picking up bro tonight! I think I will take a nap before I go so I won't be so tired tomorrow. Busy day at work so I need to run. Have a good day! Until next time...

Visiting

Nothing exciting about yesterday. Good numbers though so that makes me happy. My brother Bob is coming to visit for a long weekend. It will be good to see him! His plane arrives tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. which is what time I usually go to bed! Am I a fuddy duddy or what?? He is busy with friends most of the weekend but we will get some visiting time in. Maybe I can talk him into going to the gym with me. He could probably show me a few things! At one time, he and Mia (wife) owned a gym and then sold it. It was a beautiful place - had a rock climbing wall and a Full Service Spa. I have the night off - woohoo! I will probably do a Zumba! workout (Thanks Nicole!) but we shall see. Until next time...

Gemini Horoscope for 4/28

Honesty has a funny way of making huge transformations in life. If you can face someone and tell them your honest emotions, you'll strengthen the connection you have with another human -- and you'll get a taste of your impressive bravery. This rush of adrenaline is addictive and inspiring. Let go of the false security of white lies and vague comments. Embrace the direct approach: It will give you all the power you need to get what you want out of life.

(Wow does this hit home right now!!!)

Bye Bye April

Good stats for yesterday. I didn't eat much in the morning so the calories were low. I was still sore yesterday but seem to be fine today. I am glad that April is over - April has been a hard month for the last 10 years and I look forward to May with anticipation. Until next time...

Gray Monday

Not much activity but adjusted with calories. It is gray outside so it is a little hard to motivate today... Happy Monday! Until next time....

Sunday and Stuff

What a day Saturday was! My legs were sore this morning let me tell you. Once I started moving around they loosened up a bit. I took it pretty easy today though and spent the afternoon in Debby and Larry's backyard. It was in the 70s and breezy but nice. Here I am with my pink hat that I got at the Flea Market yesterday :-)

I am in the process of breaking off a relationship which I know it isn't going to be easy. I have been living with the BF for the past three years. In a nutshell: He has a drinking problem and won't seek the proper help. I have tried to help him but he lies to me about his drinking. He does help with cooking and cleaning but does not pay anything towards the rent which is $1,000 for a Studio apartment. It has been a long time coming but I can't continue our relationship any longer. I am making big changes in my life and he is stagnating. He is 15 years older then me and won't change his ways and although he loves me dearly and I love him it isn't enough anymore. I need to care of me first. Until next time

Cable and the Flea Market

I have had problems with my cable Internet so I haven't been able to upload since Friday! I was able to get on this morning quickly before I leave for church and I just had to share. I walked 4 miles yesterday at the Flea Market! I broke 10,000 steps! I had to stop about once an hour or so for a few minutes but that was it... Will post more later...

TGIF

Well I did a Walking Workout DVD from Prevention Magazine instead of the BL DVD. I did it for about 15 mins because that is all I could handle! That is quite a workout! I did weigh myself this a.m. and I am the same. I am not surprised. Low activity this week with the blasted heat and also retaining water. I got out of sync on some of my meds and so I am extra bloated. I am going to Zumba! tomorrow and looking forward to it. It is going to take me a little while to get those steps down but at least now I know what to expect. Nicole is loaning me her DVDs of the workouts so I can practice at home. BTW, it is 33 degrees cooler today then Monday AND it is sprinkling! Wacky!!! Until next time...

Thursday and Bugg'd

Here is yesterday's stats. Look at that sad, flat line. I think there was a few more calories burned but since I didn't have it on I don't really know. I came home from work, got online and plugged it in. I am going to do the Biggest Loser workout DVD so I am looking forward to seeing those spikes. I am glad it this week is almost over. BTW today it was 70 degrees and it is going to get lower over the weekend.. from upper 90s to low 60s in one week is freaky! It actually broke quite a few records in the area! Until next time...

Still Naked...

I forgot my Bodybugg again!! I couldn't get online (Darn Comcast!!) so I wasn't able to enter my food. I have been watching food intake so I should be okay but will have to wait until tonight or tomorrow a.m. I have decided to move weigh day to Friday. Until next time...

I feel Naked!

Good day overall. Today is not going to be as hot so I am happy about that! I forgot my Bodybugg at home for the 1st time in almost 5 months! I feel so naked!!! I almost want to run home and get it but I probably won't... I will just wait until 5:00 p.m. No Fish Market tonight since Mom is in Las Vegas. Hopefully I can drink LOTS of water today. Until next time...

Another Scorcher!

Mondays are so blah... I didn't do anything yesterday... just tried to stay cool. It is going to be in the 90s again today. I am going to get a pedicure tonight - Yea for Happy toes! Should get in more activity today. It is not as hectic at work this week but I still have quite a few appts. so that helps me keep moving around. Until next time...

Hot!

It was 94 degrees yesterday and it is supposed to be 99 degrees today! It is unusual for it to be that hot this time of year. In fact, they said it was going to cool off and will be in the 70s later this week... It made for a fairly lazy day yesterday. I was doing projects most of the day so that is good. I am eternally trying to be more organized! Until next time

Vino

Well I didn't go to Santa Cruz. I ended up going to Danielle's for dinner. We had Porterhouse steak with Artichokes and garlic bread. It was sooo yummy!! I don't eat much red meat anymore but I do crave a good steak now then. I was conscious of my portion size but we had a wonderful Merlot called 14 Hands from Washington and we ended up drinking the bottle which was 3 - 4 oz. glasses each so hence the small deficit. I don't drink much anymore (but I miss my Corona!) so it is a treat I will allow myself in moderation on occasion. Until next time...

Zumba! and Santa Cruz

So I went to the Zumba! class and WOW it was fun!! It was fast foot work and A LOT of booty shaking! I kept up the best I could and the BB registered 47 mins. of activity... It was cool to see the spikes!! It is sunny and 75 degrees out and I am thinking about going to beach in Santa Cruz.
Santa Cruz, California, is situated on the northern part of Monterey Bay about 74 miles south of San Francisco and 30 miles from San Jose. Santa. About 10% of the land area of the county is devoted to State Parks, several of which are within or adjacent to the City limits. Santa Cruz is the quintessential beach town. It was here that Hawaiian royalty first introduced surfing to the mainland--and locals and visitors alike have been riding the waves ever since. Not far from the surf break, calliope music and laughter fills the air at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the West Coast's last remaining seaside amusement park. A few blocks from the beach is Santa Cruz's newly renovated downtown. The pedestrian-friendly, tree-lined streets are filled with vibrant shops and galleries, outdoor bistros and sidewalk musicians - all in keeping with Surf City's offbeat personality.

Zumba!

Well I was planning on going to the gym tomorrow and I looked at the schedule at my local 24hr Fitness and they have a 10:00 Zumba class. I have heard of Zumba but have never taken one of their classes. I love to dance and years ago I took a Salsa class at the same gym which I loved so I think it will be fun. It may become my Saturday morning ritual :-) Until next time...

Lifestyle

Not a bad day yesterday... Although I did not plan well and ended up at Taco Bell for dinner. I ordered a Chicken Fresco Burrito. They are 330 calories and 8 grams of fat. It is not the perfect dinner but it got me to thinking... I am not on a diet. This is a new way of life for me. In the past, I wouldn't even have thought for a second what the fat or calorie content was so the mere fact that I am now makes me feel in control. Until next time...

Yipee!!

Well I am down 2 lbs this week! Yipee!! I am happy to be back on track! That means I have lost 26 lbs. since I started! As Mike said the other day, it is a Smilestone for me! Lord knows I have so much more to do but this is super encouraging. I MUST up my activities and start doing some weight training. Until next time...

Feeling groovy!

Good numbers yesterday - 112% for Calories burned is not too shabby! It sure helps to move around during BL commercials! I am feeling in the groove and I like it! I am making some other lifestyle changes as well and things are shaping up which is great. It is another slammin day at the office and going to dinner with my mom. Until next time...

Biggest Loser and American Idol

I am watching Biggest Loser and American Idol. There is one contestant on American Idol that I like. His name is Danny Gokey otherwise I am mostly watching BL. I am super excited to see their makeovers!! I am trying to dance during commercials to burn some calories. Until next time...

Busy!

It was a busy day yesterday! I work for a Private school and we are hiring for the next school year. We had a job fair last week and had over 150 applicants! It is part of my job to administer testing to the applicants. I have had 8-10 appointments. per day and will for the next two weeks. It means a lot of running around and A LOT of talking. It certainly helps with the step quota and it makes the day go by fast. Until next time...

Surviving

Hope you had a nice Easter. First of all, I ordered a new USB cord so no 3 day screenshot posts! It will be better to have one at work and one at home plus as Crystal said it can be used with other items. Friday was good. Not a 4 digit deficit but acceptable. Saturday was about the same. Then there was Sunday... I guess I should be happy that I had a deficit at all BUT that is pretty sad. I think I made a big mistake by not eating lunch or snacks. I knew I would have a high calorie dinner so I wanted to budget accordingly. I ended up being super hungry by dinner time and into the evening. I was able to avoid desert and candy so that was a positive. I had a deficit so that is a positive. A lesson learned so that is a positive. In the past, I would eat with disregard on holidays so I think this is a big step in the right direction.
Until next time...

Focused but Emotional

Well like a dork, I left my USB cord on the counter at work. I even set a reminder in Outlook but no... anyways... I did well yesterday. I made my step target 6000 and now it seems pretty achievable. I do like seeing the messages on the watch when I reach my goals. I call it my micro cheerleader. I must confess that I snuck a peek at the scale and I am down 25 lbs. I am feeling focused but I have also been emotional because...

Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of my father's death and of course Easter. It was a Tuesday night at 8:32 p.m when he died He was scheduled for heart surgery and died the night before! He was an otherwise healthy man. He did not smoke, drink or even drink coffee. He ate healthy and was not overweight. However, there was heart disease in his family. My father, Edward, aka "Eagle" was born in 193o in Chicago, IL. He met my mom in high school but they actually dated other people at that time. He was a jock and she was a cheerleader. He played minor league baseball after high school but he got drafted to Korea at 19. He was shot in the war and became a paraplegic due to a spinal cord injury. After he came home from the war he and my mom got close and they fell in love and married. They were not able to have children so they adopted my brother and I. He is 5 years older then me. They moved to California and adopted me. He became involved in a National organization called P.V.A. and he was also on committees for the V.A. which helped with accessibility and funding for spinal cord injury research. He even attended a number of Presidential Inauguration's. He had a wonderful life albeit his disability. He was a proud man and always had a smile on his face. He and my mom traveled all over the U.S. He took my mom to Maui every summer and they were married 43 years when he died in '99. He made his mark on this world and it was his time to go. I came to peace with his death through my faith and knowing that God had a purpose in taking him when he did. He loved me like no one else and I miss him dearly. I love you daddy! Happy Easter!

Another busy day!

I did super yesterday! It is so encouraging to see those numbers again. I must get better about drinking water though. I want to try putting cucumbers, orange, lemon or lime slices. I do like the Crystal Light and Ocean Spray flavorings but they are a little acidic for me. I am allergic to citric acid so they give me sores on my tongue if I drink to many. Any other suggestions? Until next time and I WILL bring my cords home so I can upload over the weekend. Until next time.

Chaotic

It was so chaotic yesterday at work! I did really well though. I think that is the highest caloric burn to date. I met my step target of 6,000 as well. I did great on food and that is including the cake. I had a tiny little piece but at least I got the flavor of it AND I only had two bread sticks. I just made sure I loaded up my plate with salad.

This morning was weigh day. I have been wavering with a few lbs. up and down in the last two weeks due to the cellulitis. So technically, I am now up 1.2 lbs. I am down 23.8 lbs total. I am okay with this and will not let it discourage me. My activity is increasing and that is a big achievement. I will forge ahead and keep focused on my goal of 40 lbs. by cruise time. It is 15 weeks and 16.8 lbs. Totally achievable! By the way, we are having another meeting today with 6 extra large pizzas! There is a veggie one so I think I will do one slice and salad from yesterday for lunch. There is left over cake but I am not going to have any. Until next time...

I love Salmon!

I did okay yesterday. It was a real emotional day but I managed to get through it (Thanks, Nicole) I had Salmon for dinner which I love. My friend Debby, who I think is the best cook on the planet says she loves my Salmon which is a HUGE compliment. All I do is sprinkle a little parsley, squeeze a little lemon and some seasoning and voila!

Today we are having a meeting at work and we are catering a lunch. It is pasta and salad with bread sticks. There is also going to be cake. I plan on a having some of each but will practice self control and have a big salad! The challenge will be the bread sticks though, they are phenom! Until next time

Hummin Along...

Not bad for a Monday. I was a little below my target for the activity level but it was okay because of the lower calories consumed. I am starting to read the Biggest Loser Fitness Program book. Have any of you read it?

I did read the BL Success Stories book and found it motivating so I figured this would be a good read. I also have the BL Cookbook but I haven't used any of the recipies yet. By the way, I decided not to weigh myself until Thursday. I have been waivering and would like to see a good number so I will do it on the 9th. Until next time...

Moving along

Here are Saturday and Sundays screen shots. I did better this weekend then I think I have since I started. I was more active and watched what I ate. I did eat pizza last night but it was Veggie so it did not sabatoge the numbers too badly.

When I was at Debby's yesterday and she had some snacks in a bowl and I asked her what it was and she told me it was Dry Roasted Edamame. Well I love Edamame in its raw form but I had NEVER seen it dry roasted. They were super yummy!!! They are a healthy snack for when you are craving salty stuff. (see details below)

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Well the Bodybugg site is back up but I forgot to bring home my USB cord again so I can't upload my screenshots. I wonder what updates they did because I don't see any significant changes. It did seem to load a little quicker but the grumpy dude is still there!

I have been doing well on food and activities. I went on a short walk with my friend Deb. We just went around her block which is probably like a quarter mile. In the past when we would walk, I would have to stop a few times (Debby said 6 times!) and this time I made it without stopping and at a fairly brisk pace. It felt great! Plus when I was leaving her house she commented on my butt and said it looked smaller! Yeah! Hopefully I will get another walk in before the day is over. Until next time...

Saturday continued...

This is Saturday night's dinner. Rock Cornish Game Hen, Broccoli and Shells. I like using a smaller plate so I feel like I am eating more. The serving for the pasta was a cup but that was way too much. I got 2 miles in today so I am super happy about that. The weather was AWESOME today (about 70 degrees) and it felt great to be out there. Until next time...

Cruzin

I am getting ready to go on a bike ride. I will probably go a mile or two depending... I read a good article on avoiding boredom with workouts that I thought I would share...

Avoiding Boredom by Ian Newby Clark

Hope you have a nice weekend and I will have posts on Monday for the weekend since Apex is updating the BB site.

Mood and Meds

Four digit deficit again. I have been taking antibiotics and they make me nauseous and so I am not hungry. I was emotionally and physically exhausted yesterday and fell asleep a little after 8:00 p.m. hence no evening peaks. Looking forward to a nice weekend. I want to get out on my bike and work on my closet AGAIN.

Thursday, April 2, 2009

Half and Half

Yesterday was a good day. I just love 4 digit deficits! I did a lot of walking around the office but nothing formal. I did well on food too. I had Mahi Mahi for dinner at Fish Market and a 1/2 of an Almond Joy for desert. I am also down 1/2 lb. this week. I knew it would be low but I am almost fully healed and should be ready to go. It should be a beautiful weekend so I can get out there and get moving!

Virtual Model

So this is what the virtual model looks like. Nicole and I both tried to put our pictures in the simulator and it looked really odd. In any case, I thought it was helpful still to give me an idea what I will look like closer to my goal. Until next time...

On the mend

Well my leg is looking a lot better and not hurting as much today. Yeah! It is Wednesday which is my standing Dinner with my mom. We usually go to this restaurant called the Fish Market which is close to her house. It is a great place and they make it easy to make smart choices. I would have done better yesterday but the boyfriend brought over Chocalate cupcakes. I could not resist. They are evil! I tried to walk around the house while watching BL to burn off some of it but they are so not worth it! I did sneak a peek at the scale this morning and I am the same which is okay. I wasn't expecting a loss this week but I do have until tomorrow. Until next time...
