Hot 100 Update #14 & Bye 2010

I am still not feeling well but I wanted to pop in and say hello and Happy New Year!!!
Here is my final lame update for the Hot 100:
  1. I will lose 2 lbs. per week. I lost 2 lbs. (260)<--- which is where I started :-(
  2. I will wear my bodybugg from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. daily. I wore it 0/7 days
  3. I will exercise a min. of 30 mins - 5 days per week. I did 0 days this week
Pretty pitiful but it is what it is. Am I bummed about it? Yes. Will my being bummed about it do any good? Well I could wallow in the negative but I choose to move ahead and once I kick this virus to the curb I plan on being a force to reckon with! Hope you have a safe and sane New Year's. Thanks for being here and sharing the ride! Until next year...

Closure

I had an entirely different post for today but I am preempting it for this one:

Last week I got a message on my cell phone from Lani at the Long Term Care Facility where Bruce lived. She said there was an "incident" and I should call when I could and talk to the Station 4 nurse. I got the message on Thursday so I called and they told me that Bruce was in the hospital due to burns that he incurred while smoking. They told me he was stable and I figured they were short staffed on Christmas and that I would call to today. Well, they called me this morning to tell me he "expired" yesterday at 11:32 a.m. I was just getting ready to leave work to meet with my mom and extended family when I got the call. I called the Medical Examiner and they told me that the final cause of death is to be determined. They are short staffed due to some of the doctors being trapped on the East coast due to the weather so it will be a few days before I know exactly what happened. I did cry when I heard and told my coworkers what happened. It helped calm me to talk to them which was good - I ended up laughing as I explained to Molly what a sap I am. So they asked me if I would be willing to make the arrangements for his remains and I told them I would. Now I have to decide whether to bury him or cremate him and then what to do with the ashes. He did not have a will and there were no personal requests regarding his final wishes in his file.  I personally think that this happened for a reason. There was a divine plan for me to enter into his life, albeit briefly, at the time I did.  I got closure and I think he did too and that at least he is not being buried by the state.

Did fine with food today. I had brunch and then dinner so calories were pretty low but so was the activity. I am fighting some kind of bronchial thing and hoping it doesn't get any worse. Oh and I weighed this morning and I was 260.  Until next time...

Marvy Monday

Good morning my lovelies! How was your Christmas? Did Santa get you what you wanted?

We went to see Shrek the Musical on Christmas Eve at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco. It was fantastic! The storyline was the same as the movies but the music was all original and the singing was extraordinary! I LOVED IT! If you get a chance to see it in your hometown, I would highly recommend it! One notable thing was the walking we had to do to get there. We had to walk 4 city blocks and then once we got in the theatre our seats were in the balcony so we had to walk 4 flights of stairs. At intermission, I went to use the ladies room and pick up a souvenir so I walked up and down the stairs again to get there so got lots of walking in on Friday. Saturday was a nice lazy day. We watched Despicable Me, napped and nibbled for most of the day. I did end up eating too much and paying for it yesterday but with lots of water and tea I am feeling better today. What makes me sad is to think how much of my life I spent feeling crappy like that from overeating. I do not miss it AT ALL!

Today we are getting together with my extended family. I have cousins that live in San Diego and they are up here for a few days so we are getting together for brunch at 11:00 today. It originally was supposed to be tomorrow but the plan changed. My work was very accommodating and let me switch my time off so I am only working until 11:00 and then I will be off the rest of the day. Yay!! I would like to get out for a walk or bike ride but I will see how I am feeling.

I did happen to get on the scale this morning and I am at 262. Which means I am up 2 lbs. It is the same old song and dance with these few pounds. Getting pretty old... I am armed with my bodybugg today and I have new resolve to get these lbs. off of me once and for all.  I have a new incentive which I will talk about more tomorrow. I am super excited about it though! Until next time...

I Survived!

Had a lovely evening!  Dinner was eggplant Parmesan and I split it with our friend Matt. I had a small salad to go with it but no bread in anticipation of the cookies. Nikki and her mom, Luana came over to help with the baking. Dave was not feeling well (cold/flu) so he stayed in bed. Whiner!

I survived the baking! I am so proud of myself! I was hesitant to even do it but Dave really wanted me to so I conceded but with my plan of allowing myself to have one 2 and a half cookies but not to "sample" proved to be a good idea. I didn't feel cheated and I stayed within my calories. Actually had a good deficit. Woohoo! Dave will be taking them to his brothers and sisters today and tomorrow so they will be gone.  I am going to make my mom a cranberry orange loaf and I will do that tomorrow night.

Today is the last day of work until Monday. We are having a Potluck here at work. In the past we went to a restuarant but with the economy they way it is, they decided to do this instead. The main course is beef brisket and turkey with sides, salads and other assorted treats.  I will do mostly salad and a little bit of brisket and a treat or two. Again, having a plan is the way to go for me. Takes some of the guesswork and also stress out of it.

Tonight I will most likely get together with Danielle. Seems like forever since we have hung out! I miss her! She does have a lot on her plate though so I fully understand plus part of it is my being a little anti-social.

Tomorrow I have a Dermatologist appt. I am hoping she comes up with an alternative treatment because it is no fun having to itch day and night plus the havoc it is having on my skin.  I do know I will not take Prednisone if they want to prescribe it. I have heard too many nightmare stories about it to even consider it. Until next time...

Winter Solstice & Stuff

Today is the Winter Solstice. It is the shortest day of the year. Although seeing pictures on some of your blogs it looks like Winter has been around for awhile - lol! Just think, it is only 6 months away from my 45th birthday the Summer Solstice. It was also the Lunar Eclipse. I tried to stay up to watch it but I fell asleep.

Went to Trader Joe's at lunch and we got some Pecan Crusted Salmon and some broccoli for dinner.  We added some broccoli rice to the meal as well. It was super tasty and will definitely get it again.  God Bless Trader Joe's!

We also got some of their Sugar Cookie Mix. It comes with the mix, frosting, sprinkles and 3 cookie cutters for 99 cents! I prepared the cookie mix last night and will bake it tonight. Last night we made the Rice Crispy treats with M&Ms. I had one as planned and still managed a 1400 calorie day. When I prepared the sugar cookies, I did not even sample the dough. First time ever! Who am I?

I was feeling festive so I put on my Pink Santa hat while I did my prepping. I tried to do a self portrait and this is what I came up with. At least on the iPhone it has the reversable camera - I could never master taking them on my old phone(s) or in the mirror. I am still working on that one LOL!

I am going to have Nikki (she is 10) come over and help decorate cookies with me. I have to tell you a little story about her and her friend Helen. I had them over at our place on Saturday and I gave Nikki a pedicure. She was hanging out with Helen, who is 12 so I had them both come over. While I was working on Nikki's toes she made a comment that I did not have a bra on and Helen asked "Katie, how come your nippies aren't showing if you don' have a bra on?" I almost choked with laughter but contained myself and said "Well Helen, as we get older our boobs sag and mine are pointing down instead of out" Thanks for noticing Helen! On that note, hope you have a wonderful day! Until next time...

400 Followers & I Heart my iPod!

Hellllo! How are you this morning? I am doing pretty good for a Monday morning.  Had a good weekend, hope you did too!

I am shocked, humbled, elated, surprised and touched that I have 400 followers! I never ever thought that I would have that many and it is just mind boggling to me. So from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for reading my blog, for supporting me and yes even giving me that kick in the arse when I need it. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

I bought an iPod Nano 5th Gen during the spring. I had an older Nano but liked the features of the new one (radio, more memory, bigger screen) My plan was to transfer the songs from the old one to the new one. Well... after checking with my adult friends, they told me I was basically S.O.L. because it is proprietary and I could not move it from one iPod to the other. Well, they don't know my wittle friend Joe. He is my friends son and he is 12 going on 13. He had all the songs transferred in about 20 mins! I was able to upload my audiobooks from Audible as well and my podcasts for Two Fit Chicks. I spent quite a bit of time this weekend just dancing and singing with my iPod like I used to and I missed it :-D It was like seeing an old friend.

I wanted to give a shout out to C over at The Evolution of C. I just discovered her blog recently and she reached 100 POUNDS LOST over the weekend. Please pop over there and say hello!

Well we are on the home stretch to Christmas. We are going to be baking tonight for Dave's family. We are just doing two types of goodies. Rice Krispy treats with M&Ms and Sugar cookies. I will alot for one of each in my calorie count today. <-- who is this woman? LOL! Until next time...

Zzzzzzzzzzzs Please

Originally posted on August 14, 2010

I had a post written for today but I decided to preempt it. As most of you know, I have sleep apnea. Another lovely side effect of morbid obesity. I use a CPAP machine (almost) every night when I sleep. Albeit the fact that it helps me sleep and that I wake up rested and with energy, I hate that friggin machine. I have strap marks when I wake up in the morning. I have skin irritation on my forehead, nose and above my mouth. It royally bites and I can't wait until the day I do not need it anymore.

While I was on the cruise I did not use it. I had it with me but shampoo splooged in my suitcase and got all over it. Then when I got home I washed all the parts but then lost the nose piece. Well last night Dave said that although I did not snore, he heard me gasping for breath and was concerned. Sleep Apnea is very serious and can be fatal. Well in the interim, I ordered another nose piece and I got it today. Whew! I am tired and can feel the effects of not using it the last 10 days.

Am I at Risk for Sleep Apnea?

Sleep apnea can affect anyone at any age, even children. Risk factors for sleep apnea include:

Male gender
Being overweight
Being over the age of forty
Having a large neck size (17 inches or greater in men and 16 inches or greater in women)
Having large tonsils, a large tongue, or a small jaw bone
Having a family history of sleep apnea
Gastroesophageal reflux, or GERD
Nasal obstruction due to a deviated septum, allergies, or sinus problems

What Are the Effects of Sleep Apnea?
If left untreated, sleep apnea can result in a growing number of health problems including:

High blood pressure
Stroke
Heart failure, irregular heart beats, and heart attacks
Diabetes
Depression
Worsening of ADHD

In addition, untreated sleep apnea may be responsible for poor performance in everyday activities, such as at work and school, motor vehicle crashes, as well as academic underachievement in children and adolescents.

Common sleep apnea symptoms include:

Waking up with a very sore and/or dry throat
Loud snoring
Occasionally waking up with a choking or gasping sensation
Sleepiness or lack of energy during the day
Sleepiness while driving
Morning headaches
Restless sleep
Forgetfulness, mood changes, and a decreased interest in sex
Recurrent awakenings or insomnia

If you have any of these symptoms, it would be worthwhile to have it checked. The polysomnigram is an easy test they use to determine your oxygen levels while you sleep. I even did mine at home.

Now we return to our regularly scheduled programming...

Hot 100 Update #12

I am glad this week is over!

Had a good day yesterday. I was still a little queasy from the &;#$+% onion rings. I guess there are just some things that should be avoided all together... Blerghhh...

Mom and I went to the Fish Market for dinner. I had the Ahi tuna appetizer and some California rolls. The Ahi was like buttah! Yummy! I am grateful that I live in a coastal state and have access to such fresh fish and seafood.

On to the update:

  1. I will lose 2 lbs. per week. I lost 1 lb. (260)
  2. I will wear my bodybugg from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. daily. I wore it 4/7 days
  3. I will exercise a min. of 30 mins - 5 days per week. I did 2 days this week
When I signed up for the Hot 100 challenge I had high aspirations of being able to make some headway with my weight loss goals but low and behold I did not fare very well. I have no one to blame but myself. I won't let this discourage me though. I just have to push ahead...

With only two weeks left of this year, I am going to my best to lose a few more pounds and then it is full steam ahead after Christmas. I should be fine because we are not doing any big holiday meals and I will do a small amount of baking but since funds are slim every morsel will be needed to give away so I won't be tempted there either. I want to make 2011 MY year! Hope you all have a good weekend! Until next time...

Rant, Rave and Random

How are you on this December morning? I am doing pretty good. Last night was pretty much a bust though. I had a chicken sandwich and onion rings for dinner. The onion rings tasted good but blechhhh the after effects are yucky (I will spare you the details) I forgot my bugg at home today so no screen shot.

I will start with my rant. First of all, I am grateful I have health insurance BUT I was trying to make an appt. for my out of control eczema and it took me 3 emails and 3 phone calls to do so. On what planet is that a productive use of resources?? When I spoke to them the first time the soonest they could get me in was February! Ummm NOT acceptable! When all was said and done I was able to get an appt. on 12/23/10 at 9:00 a.m.

My rave is that I won a CSN Store giveaway from Dawn at Fixing Myself Thinner and that was a great start to my day! I hosted a CSN giveaway so I know what cool items they have! Merry Christmas to me! LOL! I will most likely get a loaf pan and a 10" skillet. We shall see and I will let you know :-)

So my random is this: When I started losing weight in February '09 I was busting out of 26/28s and had even started to wear some 30/32s. So when I lost a substantial amount, my clothes were no longer fitting so I went to the outlets and stocked up on pants since I dress professionally for work. Well, one would think that I would be thrilled to wear the smaller sizes and show my progress to the world but I am still wearing the bigger clothes. In fact, today I have on Size 26 pants. I am a 22 now.  According to Stacy and Clinton on WNTW one should wear clothes that fit and that wearing baggy clothes make you look slouchy and larger. So, why am I still wearing/keeping my slouchy pants? There are some things that I have had to ditch because they were too big so why am I holding out with the pants. Hmmmm... What I should really do is pack up the "too big" stuff and give it away/donate it so I won't be tempted. I am on odd bird aren't I? No, you don't have to answer that! Until next time...

Wednesday Wackiness

Well we made it to hump day! Did fine on food yesterday. I ate dinner a little late but choices were good overall. I went and got a pedicure as planned and brought Nikki with me. We were there from 5:30 p.m. until after 7:00 p.m. Nikki got a manicure and I paid for her to get airbrushed designs on her thumbs. One was a bear and the other one was a snowman.  My gal Victoria takes her time and it is so relaxing with the massage and sugar scrub and all. I painted them Really Really Red (that was the name) and when I was done she gave me a pair of these:

They're called Pedi-Sox. Have you ever seen or heard of them? This was from their website.  Just slip on Pedi-Sox® at the end of the end of the pedicure process, right before the toennails are painted. You can either walk out the door in sox alone or slip into sandals. It's that easy! They come in different colors and styles and they even have a spa line. You can get them at a beauty supply store, Amazon or through their website. They start around $6.50 a pair. Cool eh?

Not sure what the agenda is for tonight. I do need to run errands at lunch time and then go to Bed, Bath and Beyond after work but that is about it. I need to get a walk or some Wii in. Until next time...

Tuesday Topics

Had a uneventful Monday. I did not have any lunch so that is why there is such a big deficit. I spent my lunch hour Christmas shopping (no mini-gym) and ran out of time to eat. Plus, I was feeling a little queasy so I just drank lots 'o water.  I had a La Paloma crab tostada for dinner. I just love them! I get it without the shell and sour cream so it cuts down on calories. My pedicure got rescheduled for tonight and I am bringing my little friend Nikki with me.  She is going to get a manicure. She is 10 years old and she totally reminds me of me when I was her age.

I was recently contacted by a gal named Emily representing Massage Therapy Schools. She said it would be a good fit to have my blog featured on their website. Well I was mortified when I went to view their website and they had one of our fellow bloggers listed who had passed away this summer. I replied and told her and her response was that others had told her the same thing and that their data was a few months old. Well Garrett passed in July so that is longer then a few months which I told her also. She said the links would be removed right away but as of today, mine is still listed. There are some other familiar names on the list as well so you may want to check the list.  That is the first negative I have experienced with my blog so I suppose I shouldn't take it too seriously but grrrrrr...

I have to share this blog: Catalog Living - A look into the exciting lives of the people who live in your catalogs featuring Gary and Elaine.  They are so witty and funny! Go check it out...

I do some marketing projects with General Mills and they gave me a coupon for Yoplait yogurt for me to share with you. Supplies are limited so you will want to use it as soon as possible.  Click here for details.

Hoping to do the mini-gym at lunch today. Dave will bring me lunch which has been helping with the budget. Even if I could do that just twice a week it would save like $20/week or $80/month. Every little bit helps right? Until next time...

Monday and Messages

Happy Monday my lovlies! How was your weekend? Are you done Christmas shopping? Have you even started? LOL! I still have some gifts to get...

I had a really good weekend! I have been feeling a little lackluster as you can see from my post here and I was kinda dreading going to the Christmas party. Well it turned out to be quite a memorable night! I wish I had taken pictures! Here is a picture of the sweater I wore:

So I got to the party about 6:30 p.m. and from the moment I walked in, people were giving me the most wonderful compliments. I heard comments like:

"You are gorgeous!"
"You are stunning!"
"You look amazing!"
"You look glamorous!"
"You look great!"
"You're glowing!"
"You look fantastic!"
"You look so beautiful!"
"Wow you lost a lot of weight!"
"I love your hair" <-- from a guy!!!

I was blown away! I decided to accept the compliments graciously and say thank you. I did well with food too. I had kept my calories low during the day in anticipation and then when I ate dinner I filled up 3/4 of my plate with salad.  I did drink 3 beers which went down very easily but I tried to drink a kamikaze and I couldn't. I think I am turning into a fuddy duddy!

Sunday was a pretty kick back day. I went shopping with my mom with intent of getting a bathrobe. We stopped at Avenue first and I ended up getting 4 new bras (pink, black, white and beige) a night shirt and a pair of chonies. Bras are so freaking expensive but I really needed them.  The last time I went bra shopping they only had a few colors.  I was looking for a particular style of robe and have had a little trouble finding one but I got one at Sears and I love it. It is 100% cotton and it is super soft. It only goes to below my knees which is just fine with me. If I get a full length robe they are too long and who wants to hem a robe? The rest of the day we just hung out and relaxed.

Hoping to go to the mini-gym with Dave at lunch and then I have a pedicure scheduled after work. I think I will do some red ;-) for the holidays. I would also like to get a french manicure with a glittery red polish at the tips. I have to see if she will have time. Anyways, hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I am off to read what you've been up to. Until next time...

Inside My Head

I have been inside my head a lot lately which can be a dangerous place LOL! Seriously though, I have been reflecting on all that has happened on this journey and I am pleased but upset with myself too.

I am really happy that:
  • I lost 60 lbs (+/-)
  • I have lost 29” total
  • My blood sugars are normal
  • My blood pressure is normal
  • My cholesterol is close to normal
  • I am getting of medications that I have been on for years
  • I have gone from a 30/32 (4X) to 22/24 (2X)
  • I have smaller feet now
  • I have increased my lean muscle mass (which helps speed up metabolism)
Now that I have written it out, it is a pretty decent list but by the same token I am disappointed. I have been dancing around the same 5 pounds for a year! In that year I have moved twice, found my biological family members and came really close to ending things with Dave after 5 years. Pretty life altering occurrences but shit life happens and I thankfully have been able to process these changes mentally without going to food to cope so that’s major progress I suppose.

In my many past attempts at losing weight, I never worked through the “mental” reasons why I was morbidly obese so I imagine that is why it never “stuck” but this time I am determined to make this a permanent change. Part of the permanent change is deleting the negative track that plays over and over in my head. I feel like I am making headway with that. I still have those thoughts but now I identify that I am being negative and try to change my train of thought. It is humiliating to me that my life was so out of control and not just with food.  I need to remember that it is futile to worry about the past. As long as I am moving forward making changes and tweaks then that is progress (not perfection) That too has been a hard lesson to learn. Nothing and nobody is perfect so as long as you make progress that is a positive.

I think the key for me to get back to business and losing is to increase my activities. I need to keep track by using my bodybugg daily. As I mentioned Thursday, I reset it for a more achievable loss rate.  I need to drink more water regularly. I know what to do and what will make me successful with this WL endeavor, it is a matter of not talking about it and just getting out there and doing it! Until next time...

Hot 100 Update #11 Etc.

Managed to etch out my target deficit. Dave made some fajitas for dinner and they were dynamite! We recently got an electric skillet and it has been our new best friend lately! Stir frying and sauteeing veggies etc.

On to the update:
  1. I will lose 2 lbs. per week. I gained 3 lbs (261)
  2. I will wear my bodybugg from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. daily. I wore it 2/7 days
  3. I will exercise a min. of 30 mins - 5 days per week. I did 2 days this week
Well this last week was a bust goal wise. I am not really surprised about the gain because I am feeling very puffy with the allergic reaction. We are going to go to the mini-gym today and hopefully I will get to the gym this weekend.

So here is the "after" picture of our wittle twee. It was fun decorating it with Dave. We watched Shrek the Halls while decorating.  I ended up using both clear and colored bulbs and then pink, red and green ornaments. I did break down and buy tinsel. Dave said that we will put it on on Christmas Eve. That is what his family did and I am game. He is the one who cleans the apt. so I guess he will have to deal with the aftermath of the tinsel LOL

Tomorrow is Blinky's Christmas party. I will be helping Danielle with preperations and decorating. I have a new sweater that I will be wearing. My mom bought it for me as an early gift and I  intended on wearing it for our work "Holiday" luncheon but we are going to have a potluck now so I will come up with something else to wear for that. I will post pictures if they turn out okay ;-) Until next time...

Thursday Topics

Yesterday was a good day. I was able to go to the mini-gym at lunch time and then I also Wii'd for 20 mins after dinner. Food was on target but I had a hard time getting any breakfast in me. Dinner was chicken breasts with spinach and 1/2 a baked potato. Had a WW Strawberry Shortcake for desert.
I updated my bodybugg Goals yesterday. I feel like I was set myself up for failure with the last program. I was hopeful that I could do it but it was not very realistic.  I really struggled achieving a 1,000 calorie deficit.  When I was most successful at this WL endeavor, I was losing about 1.5 lbs. per week which is slow but acceptable. Once I put it to 2 lbs. per week I have not been able to achieve that with any consistency and felt like I was failing so I scaled it back to 1.5. If I am able to stick to that average then I should be down 100 lbs. by next July.  I will tell you that I never thought it would take this long but it took me 42 years to pack it on so it does make sense that it will take some time to take it off but sheesh!  If I lose quicker then that then yay but at least I will feel like I am making progress again. Make sense?

I am not very optimistic about tomorrow's weigh in. I am puffy from another allergic reaction and I am an itchy mess. I have been able to keep it controlled but I am bummed that it is happening again. There is something that is causing it but I don't know what and it is rather extensive testing to determine the source. A major contributor is stress but there is something else. Meanwhile I will just do the best I can to deal with it.

So here is our wittle twee! Isn't it cute? There are two ornaments on it now. They are snowmen that say Dave and Katie on them. I got them at Kohl's. Stay tuned to see how we decorate it. Hint: I decided to comprimise a little bit ;-) Until next time...

P.S. Someone asked me where I got my bike and I wanted to let them know I got it at Sears. It is called a Schwinn Winwood. It was approx. $150

WaWaWa Wednesday Winner!

So I went to Kaiser yesterday and got my TB shot but I rescheduled the coochie doctor ob/gyn appt. I just did not want to deal with that appt. and the injection folks were running late.  I know I should have just gotten it over with but I think it would have pushed me over the edge yesterday. My new appt. is for January 7th at 4:30 p.m. Yesterday was just a funky day all together but today I am feeling good!

Thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway. Without further adieu, the winner of the giveaway is Helen at Doing A 180 -- Congrats Helen!  Please email me your mailing address and I will get it sent out to you ASAP! I have another giveaway planned for after the holidays so stay tuned for that.

Still haven't decided what color to decorate our little tree. I want one or two solid colored balls with white lights. Dave wants to do an assortment and then do tinsel and no lights. So I guess we have a dilemma! Hahaha! I know for sure that I do NOT want tinsel. Speaking of trees, I came across this candy dish that I made so I wanted to share. You can see other items I have made on my Kate's Kreation blog.

Today Dave and I are going to the mini-gym on my lunch hour. It has been a week or so since I have worked out since I have had a cold so I am actually looking forward to it. If I plan on losing my 5 lbs. by Christmas I better get hopping because it is only 17 days away! Until next time...

Big NSV!

I had a big NSV (Non-Scale Victory) that I had to share. Back at the beginning of November, I had this NSV which I am still actively working on.  Well now I get to get off another medication for High Blood Pressure called Cozar. One of my big motivators during this journey was to drastically improve my health and this is another win in the battle.  Yay!! I am still taking a water pill, Pepcid and Lipitor for cholesterol but it is my goal to get off of those as well. I am going in the right direction! Now if I can get rid of the &;%#$@ CPAP machine I will be a

Happy Camper!

Another NSV I had recently was that my feet have lost weight and I can wear an 8W instead of a 8WW. It is really hard to find extra wide shoes so this makes life easier.  It will be interesting to see when I get to goal if I don't have to wear wide shoes at all. Wow, that would be amazing!

Today I have to go to the coochie doctor ob/gyn for an appt. I am overdue :-( but I am glad to be getting it out of the way. I also have to be TB tested for work and I need a flu shot too. Ughhh... and then I have to go to my mom's to work on her paperwork. No rest for the wicked eh? Until next time...

P.S. There is still time to enter the giveaway and I will have a picture of the tree tomorrow.

My First Live Tree

How was your weekend? Hope it was good. I did pretty good with food but got minimal activity in.  I did not wear my bugg and I don't have it on today. Bad Katie J!

On Friday night, my neighbor Lu asked if I could run her to the grocery store so we went and she knew I had never had a live Christmas tree so she got one for me. It is super cute! It is about 3' tall. When I was a kid, we had a fake one and then when I moved out, I travelled with my family during the holidays and then after my dad died, we were gone so this is the 1st actual live tree I have ever had and I am 44 years old! I will take a picture of it tomorrow as the "before" and then once I decorate it I will do the "after". I am thinking all one color of ornaments (can we say OCD?) but I am undecided.

As I mentioned yesterday, I found some cute holiday dishes that I made that I had forgotten about. It was fun taking out the decorations. Instead of looking at it from the "something I have to do" perspective I was in the moment and enjoyed the rediscovery. It was refreshing and renewing! Until next time...

p.s. The giveaway is on Wednesday. You still have time!

Hot 100 Update #10 and A Giveaway

I am going to jump right in with the update for Hot 100 #10:
  1. I will lose 2 lbs. per week. I lost 3 lbs! (258) (Glad to be out of the 60s. Hope it sticks!)
  2. I will wear my bodybugg from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. daily. I wore it 4/7 days
  3. I will exercise a min. of 30 mins - 5 days per week. I did 5 days this week
I am pleased with these results especially in light of it being Thanksgiving week. I don't think I ever mentioned it but I ended up having smoked salmon and prawns for my Thanksgiving dinner with salad and some cheesecake for desert. It was tasty and I did not have seconds of anything. Plus I have been moving around more except for the last day or two because of my cold/flu. I really would like to lose 3 more lbs. by Christmas and actually entered a challenge with a few ladies over at Sunny's place. I had lost track of Sunny luckily found her again and was glad to join the challenge. I want to make it HAPPEN!

Now on to the holiday giveaway! The prizes for this Giveaway are a copy of the book Secrets of a Former Fat Girl, a Journal for food or thoughts, some measuring spoons and spatulas and a special surprise...
