On the Upswing

Well, yesterday turned out to be a decent day. For breakfast and lunch, I pretty much eat the same things every day but where I run into the most trouble is at night. I need to incorporate a new rule: No eating after 8:00 p.m. period. There may be a late dinner sometime but no nighttime snacking allowed. For dinner, I made Salmon with potatoes and green beans. Unfortunately, I did not get in any activity.

I don't know if I have ever mentioned it here but I had PCOS once upon a time. I had a doctor tell me I no longer had the cysts but I still have the lovely [insert extreme sarcasm] side effects of it which include male pattern baldness and increased facial hair. I have done a lot to combat the facial hair problem but I have never really addressed the thinning hair in my bangs and scalp area.

When I went to go see the new hairdresser, Luc, he told me about this product that Redken came out with that is GUARANTEED to work! So starting today, I am going to be using the product for 30 days and I will see if I notice a difference. The set shown below retails for about $20 which includes the shampoo, conditioner and treatment spray. You can get it at a Beauty Supply Store like Sally's or others in your neighborhood.  I really hope it works and I will be sure to let you know. They say if you are not satisfied with the results they will give you a 100% refund. Can't beat that huh?

Thursday I will be dog sitting for my mom's neighbor so tonight I will be packing to prepare for that. I will only be doing it until Saturday evening (Whew!) It always throws me off when I do it but thankfully it is just three days. It gets really tough when I have to do it for more then a week. I don't schlep my CPAP machine there so I don't sleep as well and I usually get thrown off on my meds too but I will try to be diligent about it this time. Hope you guys are having a good week! I will try to reach out to all my fellow challengers - I have been reading all your posts but I have not been able to comment on all of them but I am cheering you on! Until next time...

  5. I need to implement that rule too! I have a huge problem with snacking before bed.
PCOS sucks, I was never fully diagnosed but they always suspected I had it, now I don't I don't show any of the symptoms anymore after losing weight but the facial hair I so can relate too! Waxing, shaving, plucking it sucked! I won a laser hair removal package the beginning of the year and started doing that and noticed a HUGE difference and am loving it.
For my thinning hair I take prental & biotin pills plus I use a shampoo and conditioner called Folicure, HUGE difference in the last 6 months with using those products. My hair looks so much thicker and grows like a weed now!

  6. Hope the hair treatment works! I'm thinning a lot too, my hair has always been super duper thin though, yuck.

I'm a big afternoon snacker. I need to shut off the kitchen from like 1 - 4. That would help me!

  7. Not sure if you know Alan at Pounds Off Playoff, but, he also eats nothing after 8pm (or at least tries to!!). So that might be just the ticket for you. Good luck with the hair products.

And thanks so much for stopping by and lending me support, too!

  10. While I have allergies and can't take it. I've seen some pretty radical results from people taking ULTRA NOURISHAIR by GNC. I bought it for hubby, and it seems to help him. I've seen curly hair girls on my curly hair forum grow hair from it. The mix of Biotin and MSM is probably key. I can't take either , as I get cystic acne from Biotin and I get a rash from MSM. Sucks, huh? So, maybe worth a try?

I deal with hair loss on occasion from the hypothyroid (Hasimoto's Thyroiditis). I never had scalp-view until I got thyroid disease. I used to have dense hair that my hairdresser had to thin out to make manageable. Now, I can get scalp-show-through. So, I make sure to take my zinc and protein....since I can't take the other stuff. :)

Best to you as you work through the PCOS side effects and your new no-eating rule. :D

  11. Oh, and I pluck facial hair every night. I spend some minutes with a tweezer or the Panasonic facial groomer (if I need to do bigger areas). I turned into the wolfwoman with perimenopause/menopause. Hooowl!
