Sensitive Skin and Stuff

Last night was pretty uneventful. I did not get in any activity to speak of. I made Salmon for dinner which is always dynamite.  Unfortunately, I got snacky after dinner and ate too many calories. I need to start eating my snacks during the day. When I was losing the most weight, I was eating 3 meals and at least two snacks. Not eating snacks is making me famished by the time dinner rolls around.

With all of my lovely skin issues, I also have rosacea. My cheeks are almost always rosy and it bugs me a lot. People make well meaning comments (oh, your cheeks are so rosy!) but it makes me cringe.  I do use makeup to cover it but sometimes the makeup can cause irritation. Well, Neutrogena came out with a new product called Ultra Gentle Soothing Lotion.

From their website: Neutrogena® Ultra Gentle Soothing Lotion with SPF 15 is a gentle daily moisturizer formulated for even the most sensitive skin. It's clinically proven to instantly soothe and calm skin, visibly reducing redness and irritation. This uniquely developed formula with Chamomile and Feverfew makes skin less sensitive after just one week by strengthening skin's moisture barrier. Skin is left smoother, more supple, and healthier looking with daily use. Broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen protects the skin against the sun's damaging rays. With an allergy tested fragrance uniquely developed for sensitive skin, skin is left feeling calmer, softer and smoother.

According to the ad, my skin should improve within one week so I am going to test it. I used it for the 1st time this morning. It went on smooth and did not burn like some other moisturizers do. It does have a nice fragrance which some reviews said they did not like but I think it is fine. I am really hoping that it works and I will report back in a week on how it went. Until next time...

  1. My skin always gets so dry in the Winter months, especially my face. A lot of facial creams are to heavy and feel cakey. I hope this works out for you :)

  2. Awesome, Katie J - hope this works wonders for you!
I take lotion with me to work, and use it all day....
but I don't wear make up... so that would make a difference
for how easy it is to apply lotion all day, eh?

  4. I also have this. What works best for me is Clinique's Redness Solution moisturizer and wash. Hands down the best thing I've tried, including crud the dermatologist gave me. I'm interested to see how this Neutrogena stuff works for you. I'm always on the lookout for something to calm the red in my face.

  7. Looking forward to your update on this. My face tends to be sensitive, red, AND prone to breakouts and clogged pores, so I'm always hunting for a good product too.

  8. I have the same problem only not just my cheeks, my whole face! I have tried prescription, non prescription...a whole bunch of stuff and it all burned so I also have really dry skin because moisturizer burns my skin and makes it redder. One day I was in JC Penneys with a friend at the Clinique counter and the saleslady told me about their redness soothing line. I didn't think it would work and didn't want to waste money, but she did my face with the cleanser, moisturizer and soothing lotion and within minutes my skin actually felt calm. Its hard to explain if you've never had constantly irritated skin...but it was amazing. She gave me samples to try and a week later I bought it now I use it every day with out fail and the redness actually is fading and I don't wear make up, just use the cleanser, moisturizing lotion and soothing lotion.
