Sorting Stuff

We are halfway through the week. Can I get an AMEN! I did not go grocery shopping but I did find some chicken strips in the freezer so I had those. I am still adjusting to buying groceries for just me and doing it in the evening or on the weekends. My office used to be close to Safeway and it was super convenient to go there on my lunch hour and pick up stuff and then I would put it in the freezer/fridge at work. I would put my car keys in the fridge so there was no way I would forget to take my groceries home . Now, we are in the middle of BFE and there is no "real" grocery stores around here. There is an SF Market but it is stinky and it just opened earlier this year. I love Asian food but I can't tolerate the smell of rotting fish/seafood.

I still have not seen my mom. She is safe so I am not worried about her but it is hard dealing with her these days. I don't want to be mean or harsh with her so that is why I have avoided her. Even the simplest of tasks throws her into a tailspin. I am trying my best to help her without it overwhelming me. Friday we will be going to an appt. to help manage the funds for her caregiving company which will make things much easier on us all.  When my my brother was here over the weekend, we talked about doing some overhauling on her house. I was so glad to know he wants to help. We are going to replenish tanbark, plant flowers and clean out her garage. Certainly not a one person job so we will do it together. It will be a good calorie burning day. Until next time...

  1. Hi Katie. I LOVE the idea of putting the keys in the fridge with lunchtime grocery purchases...that is brilliant. Take care of yourself, ok? Hope he rest of your Wednesday is good.

  2. I hope that you can get to a - well, I was going to say happy place but that doesn't seem appropriate - place of contentment about your mother, and the amount of time you do spend with her. All the guilt you have when you don't see her isn't doing you any good...my wish for you is acceptance for what YOU decide is right. I find that avoidance over anything breeds guilt, and that's the last thing you need.
