Friends and Friday

Good morning my lovely friends! How are you doing? I am actually doing pretty good.  After work yesterday, I got to hang out with Danielle and Karla and it was an enjoyable evening chatting and sipping 14 hands Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a fabulous wine and if you ever get a chance to try it, I would recommend it. I did not overdo it so I am feeling fine this morning. I actually got to sleep past 6:00 a.m. this morning! What a concept!

Tonight I am going to LG to get my 2nd laser hair removal treatment. This is the 2nd of 6 sessions that I am doing.  It hurt more then I remember from before so I think I will take some ibuprofen before I go to help with that. After I am done, I will go to my mom's and have dinner. I requested salmon (big surprise!) I really need to make a point of going over there at least once or twice a week.

Work has been busy lately since we are getting ready to start on August 20th. The next two weeks will be chaotic for sure. I am going to request this Friday off just for the heck of it. I just want to enjoy the day without having any appts. or commitments to deal with. It will be the last day off before September 21st when I go to Fitbloggin12. Until next time...

Head Spinning Monday

My flowers are blooming nicely :-)
Whoa, I am posting late this morning. It has been one heck of a Monday morning. It is a good thing but wowie! I barely had time to breathe.  I did not even stop to eat until 10:00 a.m. which is way too late especially when I am doing insulin at 7:00ish.

Had a good and productive weekend.  Saturday I went to the grocery store which was much needed. Stocked up on fruits and veggies. I still have a quite a bit of the bulk chicken and fish I bought.  That has really come in handy. I also just recently renewed my Costco membership so I will buy bulk again when this supply is gone. It is just so much more cost effective and I LOVE that they are portion controlled. It is also handy that they defrost rerelatively quickly since they are flash frozen.

Sunday, I spent most of the day at my mom's. This was the last weekend that my brother is in California. His contract job is over and he got a permanent position in Colorado which is awesome news. Being away from your family like that had to be hard on everyone. It will be several months before he can make it out here again. His help has been tremendous and I am just grateful he was able to spend the time he did with her. Now, I need to step it up again since it is just me again. I have been a little lax in seeing her but that has to change now.

Obligatory Bogey Picture

Eleven Hundred

Bogey says Happy Friday!

This is my 1,100 post. Holy cow that is a lot of posts! I never thought I would have that much to write about. If I had only known what a wonderful community of people there were in the blogosphere, I would have started a long time ago.

I am still a little sleep deprived. I am hoping to get a chance to sleep in over the weekend. My brother is coming up again this weekend. It will be the last weekend here in Cali because his contract is over.  It has been good to have him here as much as he has been. I am so thankful that we were able to put our differences aside and mend our relationship. We don't always agree but we are a whole lot nicer about it then we were before so that is major progress.

Random but this was my horoscope for today:

A new focus on health and diet will come into your life today, shifting your priorities away from taking the easy way out and toward putting in the hard effort that you know will pay off. It's time to face the facts and trim the fat -- literally! Investigate new ideas on how to eat better and exercise more. Ask around and don't just assume that your local gym has all the answers. There are many ways to approach this problem and get healthier in a fun way.

Don't have any concrete plans for the weekend. but maybe I should!?! I will get together with the family but I also need to get outside or to the gym. I am not going to get anywhere close to my goals if I don't get off my arse. Until next time...

Flirting with the 40s

Good morning ladies and gents (if there are any gents reading) Hope you are all having a good week. Since it is Thursday, that means it was weigh day and I am at 249! I am happy to see the 240s again but I am guarded as I have been here before. The lowest I got was 248 so if I push hard this week I can blow through that number and be in new territory. That also means 4 more lbs. to reach 70 lbs. lost. That will be a great milestone but I have lots more work to do for sure.

I have to find my mom a new doctor. Her doctor decided that since I was questioning her treatment of my mother that she would write us a "piss off" letter and say she is terminating the relationship and will not see her under ANY circumstances after August 13th. A 30 day notice basically. My mom had been going to that same office for almost 40 years! Her original doctor retired and she got Dr. Sunitha Gubbala by default. In one of the conversations with her nurse, the nurse said they had "too many patients" to be able to return calls!! I was mortified at her response. Is that what it has come to???

It is probably best for everyone involved BUT my biggest issue is her accountability. She made errors and I called her on them and instead of addressing the issue, she avoided it by ousting us out the Medical Group. It even says she is unable to see other doctors in that practice.  I do plan on writing a letter after we find a new doctor. I will copy every doctor in her office, Medicare and her supplemental insurance as well as the AMA.

To end on a more positive note, this is the latest toy I got for Bogey. He had a field day with it when I brought it home last night. It is called Fatcat - I ordered the fishing pole from eBay so that should be really fun too. Every day he is getting more adjusted to me. I have had him for a month now can you believe it! Until next time...

Coiffures and Pilates

Another early night... that little rascal is a great kitty alarm clock. I had ravioli for dinner. I am not a huge pasta fan so having pasta two nights in a row is pretty unusual for me. Last night I was watching a new show about adoption called "I'm Having Their baby" It is on Oxygen but if you don't get that channel, you can watch full episodes online. It was an interesting show and  gave me a peek into the other side of the adoption process. It must be heart wrenching to give up your baby like that. I know how it feels from the other perspective but it was enlightening to see from the mothers perspective.

I am getting my hair cut tonight. Speaking of hair, one of my fave gals here at work had melanoma and went through two rounds of chemo and has been wearing a wig for about 9 months and today she is here without a wig. She had straight hair and now it has grown in curly. This is often the case. She looks so cute and it was a major milestone for her to ditch the wig. It was a lovely way to start the day!

Have any of you tried Pilates? I know Mir has and she raves about it. I am interested in checking it out and thought I would ask you guys if you had tried it. Until next time...

Spanx Me

It was a pretty uneventful night. Diana, my neighbor, made lasagna so I had a small piece of that for dinner with a spinach salad. I was pretty tired so I made it an early night and went to bed around 9:30 a.m. My little kitty alarm clock keeps waking me up around 5:00 a.m. so I have been extra tired.  My "real" alarm is set for 6:30 a.m. I may have to go to bed earlier or make proper use of that extra time like exercising. What a novel concept!?!

Bogey at 3 months old
I think everyone and their mothers have heard of Spanx. Did you know they have come out with a men's line? Anyways, I have thought of trying them but never attempted to try them on at the store or anything. Well, I found out they had an outlet store on eBay called Spanx Takes Off and checked them out. What I ended up getting were the Hide and Sleek Girl shorts Style 165. They retail for $50+ and I got them for $25 and change. Pretty good deal eh?  They do come in sizes up to 3X so that is good news. I tried them on and they feel fine. Not restrictive like I thought it might be. It will definitely help with the dresses I bought recently. I am going to a wedding on August 4th so I will sporting a dress then. I found one on sale at Target in Navy blue and with the right accessories and a cute pair of shoes, I think it will work great. I will show you the ensemble when I put it together.  Until next time...

Pamper and Perilous Pet

Hi there! How are you all doing? Did you have a good weekend?  Mine was good. Scary at one point but good.

Saturday, Danielle and I went to Planet Beach. I got a Groupon for us to use for their rejuvenation spa services. I did this before at one of their other locations. You can read all about it here if you are interested. We went to grab a bite to eat afterwards and then walked by a nail spa. She did a mani/pedi and I did a manicure. I have been hearing about Shellac manicures and wanted to see what the buzz was about. Basically, it is like gel nails without the hassle. It was more expensive then a regular mani but it is supposed to last 2 weeks. I will be sure to let you know. My nail are generally short and I am fairly rough on my hands so it will be interesting to see.

I mentioned on Friday that I was going to go somewhere new on Sunday. It did not happen BUT Michelle guessed it correctly. I have been wanting to try Hot Yoga and got a package deal of them. I had grandiose plans of going but it did not happen. I will certainly let you know when that happens. It is seriously out of my comfort zone but I need to get out of my own head and just do it.

On Saturday morning, Bogey woke me up around 5:00 a.m. We played for a little while then I went back to sleep. When I woke up and went to the front room, I could smell something burning. He had knocked over a lamp and the bulb was burning a hole in the carpet. There was smoke and everything! Scary huh!?! Good thing I woke up when I did or it could have been way worse. My friend HG said he could patch it for it me by taking a small piece from the closet or crawl space.

Today I am wearing a necklace that I think I have had since I was a teenager and it works perfectly (IMHO) with my outfit. The stone is called Picture Jasper. Jasper actually comes in a wide variety of colors. I have it in pink too :-) I should dig it out and show you.

I have my Fitbit on today. I haven't been wearing it for the last few weeks but I want to keep that scale moving so I will be tracking closely again. Until next time...

Beyoncé - Best Thing I Never Had

What goes around comes back around (hey my baby)
What goes around comes back around (hey my baby)
I say what goes around comes back around (hey my baby)
What goes around comes back around...

There was a time
I thought, that you did everything right
No lies, no wrong
Boy I must've been out of my mind

So when I think of the time that I almost loved you
You showed your ass and I, I saw the real you
Thank God you blew it
I thank God I dodged the bullet
I'm so over you
So baby good lookin' out

[Chorus:]

I wanted you bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
You turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
And I'm gonna' always be the (best thing you never had)
Oh yeah, I bet it sucks to be you right now

So sad, you're hurt
Boo hoo, oh, did you expect me to care
You don't deserve my tears
I guess that's why they ain't there

When I think that there was a time that I almost loved you
You showed your ass and baby yes I saw the real you
Thank God you blew it
I thank God I dodged the bullet
I'm so over you
Baby good lookin' out

[Chorus:]

I wanted you bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
I said, you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
And I'll never be the (best thing you never had)
Oh baby I bet sucks to be you right now

I know you want me back
It's time to face the facts
That I'm the one that's got away
Lord knows that it would take another place, another time, another world, another life
Thank God I found the good in goodbye

[Chorus:]
I used to want you so bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
Oh you turned out to be (the best thing I never had)
And I will always be the (best thing you never had)
Ooh, best thing you never had!

I used to want you so bad
I'm so through with that
Cause honestly you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
Oh you turned out to be the (best thing I never had)
Ooh, I will never be the (best thing you never had)
Oh baby, I bet it sucks to be you right now

What goes around, comes back around
What goes around, comes back around
I bet it sucks to be you right now
What goes around, comes back around
I bet it sucks to be you right now
What goes around, comes back around
I bet it sucks to be you right now

** This is for R. I am SO glad you are the best thing I never had.

Exchanging Comments

A common question I get is how I follow up on comments left on my blog. I generally will go to the commenter's blog if they have one and leave my response/comments there. But, there is another way of doing it that enables you to communicate which is by email.

If you use Blogger, Go to the Dashboard and click on Edit Profile next to your picture:

Then scroll down the page under Privacy and mark the box SHOW MY EMAIL box.

Put the email address you would like your followers to use. If you are concerned about privacy, you could created a non-identifying email address for this purpose. By default this is noreplycomment@blogger.com

Then scroll down to the Identity Section on go to the Email Address field. The email address you use should be input here. I use my regular email addy but again you can create one just for this purpose.

Then click on Save Profile. You are all set to communicate back and forth by email!

If you have any questions on this please let me know. I wish more people did this! I would be more then happy to walk you through the process.

Karaoke Queen

Hip hip hooray! It is Friday! It has been a good week. My only issue is the lack of sleep because of my furry faced fwend. He actually slept with me last night and was still with me in the a.m. My sweet boy.

At Blinky's they have Karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights. I think I have mentioned it but I used to be quite the Karaoke Queen. I was actually pretty good. I have not done it in a few years and Danielle is working tonight so I decided I would give it a go. I am not planning on drinking. I may have one but I doubt it. Just not worth the calories really. I don't plan on making it a late night either. Guess I have turned into a fuddy duddy.

I am thinking of trying something I have never done before on Sunday. I was inspired to do it by another blogger and I am a little nervous about it but I think once I get there it will be fine. It is out of my comfort zone for sure. Have any idea what it is? I will let you all know on Monday. Until next time...

A/C and Accesories

Good morning my friends.  How are you doing this week? I am cruising along thankfully. My attitude is good so that helps a lot. Life threw me for a loop there for a little while with my mom's situation and Dave but things seemed to have settled down in both cases.  Can I get an Amen!?!

Weight was the same. Officially locking in the 250. I can't wait to ditch this fricking decade. I don't want to even think about how long I have been hovering here. That is water under the bridge though.

I have been trying to put in A/C in my apt for the last 2 MONTHS! There were two issues basically. One was that I could not get anyone to commit to helping me install it. A few said they would but never came through. The second issue was that it was designed to go in a standard up and down window and mine are side to side. Dave and his friend tried yesterday and they could have put it in but it would have taken some construction that my management company would not appreciate. Sooooooooo... I went to Lowe's (first time visit!) and found this awesome item. It is like a swamp cooler I guess. They call it an evaporate cooler.

It is on wheels and you can put it anywhere you need it to be cooler. My primary need is for the bedroom. I need it to be comfortable to sleep and this is going to work out perfect. Danielle needed a new A/C for her bedroom so she'll use the one I bought. Plus, I learned a lesson or two out of it.

I just wanted to share my latest acquisition. I already had a pendant from them but I decided to get another one and it is another twofer They are $30 BUT you get two for the price of one which I think is quite reasonable. Today I am wearing it white side up as shown in the 1st picture.

Most likely will have dinner with Danielle. Not sure what we'll have or where we will go but I will be making healthy choices and NOT drinking. Until next time...

Hump Day Happenings

Happy hump day! Hope you all are doing well. I am feeling pretty darn good actually. Had a good day on the food front yesterday. I took Bogey to get his stitches out so I did not really have a lunch and then I had a crab tostada for dinner from La Paloma. I usually order it without the shell and did this time too but I got the shell. I should have just tossed it instead of eating it but calories were low for the day. Unfortunately, it does not agree with my tummy so it's been a little grumbly.

When I went to sleep last night, I brought Bogey and his bed to my bed and he actually stayed there until this morning when I got up to use the restroom. I was very impressed. We are truly getting to bond and I am in love. I have always been a dog person but this little rascal has really melted my heart. I am really glad that I read How to Think Like a Cat.  It tuned me in on how to promote positive and deter negative behaviors and saved me a lot of time.

So my usual weigh day is Thursday but I got on the scale this morning and I am at 250 which is 3 lbs. down from last week. It was one of those double take moments. I had to stand on it like 3 times to actually believe it. I am beyond thrilled! I usually do not lose 3 lbs. in one week AND I am 2 lbs. away from my very lowest on this journey which was 248. I feel like I have been doing these same 5 lbs. over and over. The good news is I have maintained my 65 lb. loss and just bounced up and down the 250s forever which is not so great news. All in all, I am feeling a renewed motivation to kick it up a notch. Wish me luck! Until next time...

Fifteen Minutes

Pretty uneventful evening. I was super tired from not getting a restful night's sleep on Sunday. I did not wear my mask because I was waking up to give love to Bogey since he was in the carrier and boy oh boy could I tell the difference. I hate that damn thing but I do get proper rest when I wear it. I look forward to the day that it won't be taking up my nightstand. Someday...

I have been employing the "you can do anything for 15 mins" method of getting things done.  It seems so elementary to me but it works so I am not going to knock it. I feel silly sometimes, setting the timer but whatever works right?  This can apply to any task that needs attention. It is along the lines of you can eat an elephant. You just have to do it one bite at a time.

Have you ever heard of Stephen Covey? He was the author of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It is a fantastic book and he was a superb speaker. I actually say him speak back in the late 80s with a Marketing firm I worked at. He died yesterday at the age of 79 from complications of a bike accident he had in April. If you have never read his book, I would definitely recommend it. I listened to the book on tape AND read the book it was so good. RIP Mr. Covey. You made an indelible mark on our planet. Until next time...

P.S. Do you wear Spanx?

Murky Monday

It's Monday. Had a decent weekend. Went out to lunch with my brother and mom yesterday and did some errands for her. Eating was spotty. Not bad but honestly not enough either. I did not have breakfast or dinner. Plus I screwed up and did not poke and pill either day. Probably why I have a headache this morning. That and the fact that I was up on and off all night worrying about Bogey. I have him in the carrier and I wanted to make sure he was content.

Cuddling with the mama

Bogey was supposed to get his stitches out today but I didn't realize that the vet was closed. So, he's under my desk in the carrier. I am going to run him home at lunch time because the traffic mid-morning is atrocious. I would have road rage in a nanosecond. The vet I took him to is up in age anyways so I should shop for a vet that is younger and closer to home. I should check with friends and neighbors.

Tonight I have the maintenance dude at my complex reseal the toilet and paint the wall so I need to stay close to home. He knows about the kitteh but I just want to insure Bogey is okay. Plus, I have hella laundry to do. Laundry just plan ass sucks. Until next time...

Friday Fluff

Friday! Yaaaaaa!!!! Best work day of the week I tell ya!  Had a productive evening which was good but did not do any formal exercise. I had crab cakes for dinner and they were pretty good. It was part of the seafood packages I got. I'm not sure if I cooked them correctly. No instructions and I don't have any experience with preparing crab cakes.

Since this is not a kitty blog, I decided to chronicle Bogart's little life on another blog. I'm calling it Babbling about Bogart.  I haven't done anything but set it up but I think it will be a great way to capture his first year at least. I will let you y'all know when I update mmmkay?

Tonight my friend D (younger guy) is coming over. He is going to help me put in the A/C that I got a few months ago. It's about time! Sheesh! I have had that thing sitting on the floor for forever and just want it installed or I will sell it. I am tired of it taking up space in my bedroom. It is a luxury really and not a necessity like it would be in FL or AZ.

Nothing exciting planned for the weekend. It is going to be in the 80s so perfect weather. Hoping to make it a healthy productive and active weekend. Until next time...

Thursday Thoughts

We are on the downhill slide to Friday! Woohoo!  It has been a pretty good week overall. I lost 1 lb. this week so I am at 253. This is like watching paint dry. If I plan on meeting any of my goals, I really need to step up my game. I know that once I increase my activity, the weight will start coming off faster.

Saying it and doing it are two different things.

I am not yelling at y'all. I am just doing it for emphasis and to ingrain the message in my noggin. I have ALL the resources available to me but if I am not using them then they serve no purpose.  What can I do today to help me achieve my goal? Any step forward is a step in the right direction Katie J! Until next time...

Single and Mingle

Source
I did not get my haircut last night. I had two appointments on the books so I cancelled last night and will go on the 25th of July. When I got home, I could see signs that Bogey was around but I never did see him yesterday. I heard him mew this morning so I know he is okay. It is going to take time for him to adjust. I am just an instant gratification gal so I want to love on him NOW.

Being single is interesting. I spent years being single before but it has been like 7 years. I am really out of practice and things have changed. Remember the guy who called me at 10:00 p.m. Well I saw him again at lunch the other day and then he called that night but left no message. He is nice but I don't see it going anywhere.

There is a man that I have been talking to and flirting with for 7 years. He owns a Pest Control company here in the area. A few weeks ago he was here to drop off bills and we chatted like usual but I actually got the courage to ask him out to sushi. I know he eats sushi because I have seen him at the restaurant I used to go to called Sato. I have not called him yet but I need to get on it soon. My mom's house has some ants so I am going to have him spray her place and that will be my segway ;-)  Just a side note. He is 54 which is 8 years older then me. Not so bad.

There is another younger man who has been expressing interest in me. He is 36 which is 10 years younger then me. I happened to mention him to another friend of mine and he said I was a Cougar! Whatever! Age can be a factor but I think the man being older doesn't guarantee maturity. That I know for sure. Do you think it is possible a relationship like that to work? Until next time...

Summer Reading

Nothing notable to mention about yesterday on the food front. I was not in the mood to cook so I had an egg salad sandwich for dinner.  I really have been cooking more for myself. Not every night but much better then before. It is helping that I have fish and chicken stocked up and then some. All I need to do is come up with a veggie and a side and I am good to go.

A while back I was reading Bethenny Frankel's book called A Place of Yes. I highly recommend it! She had a pretty dysfunctional upbringing but still managed to be very successful. Reading that book gave me the strength to break up with Dave.

After that, I started reading Moose: A Memoir of Fat Camp. I got through about 40% of the book and gave up on reading it. While I did like her writing style, the subject matter was booooring... Maybe because I actually went to Fat camp, that I felt it was redundant.  I decided that I wasn't going to finish it so I didn't.

Right now, I am reading this book:
Think Like a Cat -- How to Raise a well-adjusted cat not a sour puss. Since it has been over 25 years since I owned a cat, I thought it was worthwhile reading. I am already a couple chapters in and have already learned a few things. One thing was to get them used to noise so I put Animal Planet on the TV so it is not quiet when he's home alone.

The other books I have in my queue are Summer Rental by Mary Kay Andrews and Skinnydipping by Bethenny Frankel Both are lighthearted books that should be perfect for summer reading. I need a little fiction to balance it out.

If you have a Kindle, there is a blog that has free books from Amazon for you to load on your e-reader.  It has a summary of the book as well as the rating and selling price.  I have quite a few books from there and I think it is worth checking out.  Until next time...

Muggy Monday

Hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was good overall. Bogey is adjusting to his new home. He got the cone of shame off and is hiding out under my bed. I have seen him peeking out at me and I did cuddle with him for a few minutes on Saturday. The good news is he is eating, drinking water and pooping in the litter box so that is a great sign. I am going to have to catch him though because he needs to get his stitches taken out out early next week. I guess I will need to get a carrier for him ;-) That little dude is not cheap! I had absolutely nothing for him so I had to get quite a few things. I will take some pics tonight of his cute loot.

Eating over the weekend was pretty good overall. Saturday, I just wasn't hungry so I did not eat until dinner time. Weird for me to not be hungry ALL day but I made it work. I did not do any formal exercising but I did try to keep moving and drinking lots of water. I tried making a Frittata for the first time Sunday morning. I have seen them on Helen's blog and have wanted to try it for awhile.  It actually came out pretty good. I sauteed mushrooms, spinach and garlic and then added the egg mixture and sliced ham and put cheese on top.  Then I put the pan in the oven to melt the cheese and voila.  I should have used more spinach and shredded cheese would have been better then sliced but I was pleasantly surprised at the results. I still have the other half. They say you can eat it hot or cold but I imagine it tastes better heated.

It is supposed to be in the 90s today. Blechh! The sad part about that is I actually have an air conditioner but I can't get anyone to help me install it and I don't think I can do it myself. People have offered to help but no one comes through. Pfffttttt... That just sucks...

Yesterday I stopped by to say hello to Danielle at work. They have a vodka that is cake flavored. It had one of those scannable codes so I opened up Quick Scan and while I was doing that, I realized I could actually create a code for my blog. So here it is:
I thought this would be great to print on a business card as well so when I get cards for my blog (Fitbloggin12) I can add the code to it. Cool eh? Until next time...

My new Man

I went to work like I normally do on Thursday. I was reviewing my emails and sipping coffee when someone told me that he was in a classroom at the school and that I should go meet him.  I was nervous but excited at the prospect of meeting someone new. As soon as I saw him it was love at first sight! He is handsome and a little timid at first but as soon as I hugged him it was love. He loved hugging me and gripped me tightly. His name is Bogart, Bogey for short.
Bogey - 10 weeks old (approx.)
Isn't he adorable! It was a bit of an ordeal to catch him but once I got him we were in love. I took him over to the SJ Spay and Neuter Clinic and he got fixed right away. He also had a hernia on his belly so I had them remove that too. Poor little guy. He knows me for 3 hours and I am already inflicting him with pain. He is wearing a cone of shame too. The Facilities manager is going to pay for the bill! Holy crap!!! I said I will accept it graciously and say thank you. It was $200!!!

Bogey in the Cone of Shame
That is a good story actually. When I was graduating from college in 2001, my friend wanted to buy my graduation outfit. We were perusing a catalog and we found an outfit that included a sweater, a skirt and shoes. She said she wanted to buy it for me but I felt it was too much money for her to spend.  We kept going back and forth and back and forth about it and finally she said "You are taking the fun out of this, accept graciously and say thank you." So from then on, if someone wants to do something nice for me, I accept graciously and say thank you. Until next time...

Same and Sides

Hope you all had a safe and sane 4th of July. I did not do much at all yesterday but I am okay with that. I woke up at my usual time (6:30 a.m.) and then shortly thereafter went back to sleep until almost 11:00 a.m. It was glorious! I rarely do that but it was much needed.

Spent the day with Danielle at Blinky's. I did not drink! Woot! Woot! I am proud of myself for not folding. I was actually productive while I hung out and cleaned out my car and put packages together that need to go out. I have been a complete slacker when it comes to mailing these things out.

Weight is holding steady. No gain, no loss this week. I need to step it up! How am I going to reach my goals if I keep doing the same things over and over.

I finally got a brain bucket! I usually ride around my neighborhood so I didn't feel like I needed a helmet but I have plans to venture out more and decided it might be a good idea. Yes, part of it was vanity but safety before vanity right? Plus it was a decent price. Helmets can be spendy for sure!

I finally went grocery shopping Tuesday night. I was out of everything. I am stocked up now with veggies and sides to accompany all that fish and chicken I bought. Most likely I will have tilapia for dinner. Until next time...

2 Years Later...

Had a relaxing yet productive evening. The facial was divine! She was a nice gal and we hit it off. There was a scheduling snafu but she remedied that with an extra treatment :-) After I got home I did some laundry and organizing and felt accomplished when my head hit the pillow.

Thanks for the feedback on getting botox. I feel the same way you do. I thought he was offering me a deal but when I mentioned it to Christina (esthetician) she said they do it too for the same price.  I have never had anyone tell me I look angry so that should have been my red flag right there. Actually, I get the opposite comment like "You are always smiling!"

Sandy around 1985
Yesterday was the 2 year anniversary of learning that I had biological family. Within the first 6 months, I was able to meet everyone except for my oldest sibling, Fred who lives in Alaska. I was actually in Alaska that summer on a Cruise but he did not make the trip to see me. It was A LOT to absorb. Here were people that I didn't know that looked like me, talked like me and even had some mannerisms like me.  It was mind boggling.  Eventually I was able to process the facts and fit puzzles pieces together. What has taken me the longest to figure out is who I am. Like Kristi commented on the original post: This will help you understand who you are and where you fit in this world. It completely challenged my nature vs. nurture concept. I am Sandy (and Bruce's) offspring and I can't deny it. I have her skin tone, freckles, smile, hands, height and personality traits of hers. They are hard wired I guess. But, I am also Betty's and Ed's. They taught me what I know and instilled kindness, compassion and morals throughout my life. Since I was also changing weight wise and rediscovering myself it kinda through me for a loop for awhile but I am begining to make peace with all of it and truly learn to love who I am and who I will become as I continue to shed layers of myself physically and otherwise. Until next time..

Whims and Lashes

Had a fun weekend and hope you did too. I did my laser hair removal as planned. Note to self: Do not schedule for 1st thing in the morning. Sheesh! It hurt more then I remembered but since it was a small area, it was tolerable. I have to do it once a month for 6 months moving forward. When I was leaving, the Dr. said I should do Botox so I don't look so angry. Oh, thanks Doc, did not know I was angry looking! He is not completely off base though because I have thought of doing it but it is rather cost prohibitive but he said he could do it for $250. I am still thinking about it.... Would you do Botox?

Then I was off to do my eyes. She waxed and colored my eyebrows and tinted my eyelashes. I should have taken a before picture but I forgot. Here is the after though. I do not have mascara on. Just a neutral eye color for a little shimmer. How cool is that?

The results last for 6-8 weeks.  I am really pleased with the results and plan on doing it again for sure. It is also nice to not see grey eyebrows lol!

Dinner at Olive Garden was pretty good. I did not eat all day in preparation of the extra calories. I originally thought I would get Salmon but ended ordering the Eggplant Parmesean. It was pretty tasty. I ate two breadsticks but could have had 10! Had a berries and sorbet for dessert. I mentioned that I wanted to see Madagascar 3 and that I was willing to go it alone but my brother said he and mom could come with so that's what we did yesterday. I like to move it move it! I like to move it move it!

It is fairly obvious that I am impulsive shopper. Well, I was poking around the QVC app on my phone and I found these shoes and decided to order them thinking they were cute and functional.

Little did I know, they are SUPER comfortable and help with posture and support of your feet AND are cute to boot <---- shoe humor! I was so thrilled with them that I ordered another pair in Gold. They are not cheap but I think they are worth the expense to help protect my feet.

Tonight I am going to get a facial. I scheduled this months ago (Living Social) and had almost forgotten about it until I got the confirmation call. I think I will have sushi for dinner. Since I am going to be out already. Maybe I'll call a friend and see if they'll come with. Until next time...
