Binged and Bands

Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was decent. I got a lot done around the apt. on Saturday. I had a little trouble getting myself motivated so I decided to do the timer method. I set the timer for 15 mins. and started working on the room, sorting clothes, dusting, putting clothes away etc. When the timer went off, I allowed myself to watch a Bravo show for a little while and then set the timer again. It works for me so I will keep doing it as needed.

I did do some stress eating on Saturday night with cereal. I had three bowls in a couple of hours. Then it was toasted almonds and glazed walnuts. While the items are a bit healthier then what I used to binge on, it was still a binge nonetheless. Sunday, I went to visit my mom and bring her some clothes. She was having a bad day so it was a little upsetting. After I left her, I went to the bar and watched the 49er game. They were serving spaghetti which I don't eat so I just had salad and bread. I drank a few beers and then called it a night. I did not stay to the end of the game. On the way home, I decided to get Taco Bell which I have not had in at least a year if not longer. I had a bean burrito and nachos with no meat. Needless to say I am belly aching this morning. It is going to be at least another year before I go to Taco Bell again... blerghhh...

My plan for tonight is to stay home and do some resistance training since I got my flexcords in the mail today.  It even has a hook you can put in the doorway which hopefully I can hook up on my own. I am only 5'2" but I do have a foot stool though so I can reach in cabinets and top shelves so I think it will be okay. Until next time...

  1. Though I don't think I've ever set an actual timer, I've used the timer method for lots of things - including exercise. When I don't feel like it, I tell myself I'll just try for 15 minutes and if I still want to quit, I can. 99.9% of the time, I do not quit and will generally keep exercising for a half hour or more. That tenth of percent when I do I find it's because i genuinely needed some rest or am coming down with a bug of some sort.

I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think of your new bands!

  2. Taco Bell would make me sick too...we're just alike, I used to always get a bean burrito! I haven't been there in a LONG time..but I did have mexican food this weekend. I opted for fajitas and they were yummy..but I'm sure had a lot of sodium.

  3. Yep - the timer method works so well for anything you don't want to do...and rewards, like a TV program, are cool as well. :)

Speaking as the queen of climbing up on a chair to reach things, you'll find a way to hook up the bands. Have fun with them!

P.S. Taco Bell is the devil.

  4. As a born carnivore and binger myself, one great advantage to becoming a vegan is some built-in restrictions on what I could even binge on if I wanted to.

I will always love meat (and the stuff that goes with it), but I know I'm too weak to have it as part of my life in moderation.

Your pain is known and shared...but you'll put it behind you with your workout tonight!

Oh...be careful with the door strap in case it does break. Be mindful!

  6. Taco Bell is evil! LOL I have had stomach issues after eating there as well.

I like the resistance training bands you posted.

Do you still use your BodyBugg?

  7. Katie, I apologize, I forgot to put my blog address down on the last comment.

How do you like the fitbit? Does it seem more intuitive than the BodyBugg? I have been wanting to try it.

  8. I binged on Pez not too long ago, so I will binge on just about anything it seems. Hope your mom is doing better today. The timer method is great and good for you using it! I have a son that is over 6', it is so nice to have him around to get things off the top shelfs now.

I would love to hear a review of your fitbit too, I have been looking at it and the Jawbone Up and now Nike has come out with a wristband that does a lot of what the fitbit does except monitor your sleep. I am leaning towards the fitbit, I am just afraid I will lose it or it will fall off of my clothes. TIA :).

  9. Taco bell is one of my weaknesses but sounds like you made smarter choices than some of the stuff they offer.

Can't wait to see your post about your bands workout.

  10. You know, I used to be sad that we don't have Taco Bell and KFC here. Sincerely sad. Now I'm sincerely happy and relieved :p

  11. Taco Bell and I are old nemesis. I'm sure if I ate there right now, I'd be hospitalized:) Let me know how the bands work out!

  12. I do the timer thing often! And I have a lovely 30 minute hourglass in my office that I should be putting to use every day too.

I've gotten food poisoning from Taco Bell twice. No joke. You'd think I learned the first time, but...and I still go a couple of times a year (just not to the particular location that made me sick those two times).

  13. It may have been the visit with your mom and all those emotions that lead to your "binge." I know for me my binges are directly related to my feelings. Hand in there my friend. As far as binges go, it could have been WAY worse so that is the bright side. I can out binge that any day and I had weight loss surgery! :)
