How is everybody on this 2nd day of February? I am doing alright. I got on the scale this morning and it said 250. It is 2 lbs. less then last Thursday but the same as last Friday. Throughout the week I saw it bounce around so I am glad it leveled out as a loss from last week.
Do you eat yogurt? There are so many different flavors and brands to choose from. Before I started on my WLJ I had never even tried Greek yogurt and when I read on other blogs about how good it was I had to try it. I have found that I like Chobani the best as far as Greek yogurt goes. For a long time, I was stuck on Yoplait's custard style Vanilla. I also like Activia. I tried quite a few brands and flavors and some were just downright gross. One that I tried the other day that was fabulous was Blood Orange. The perfect balance of creamy and tart. I found them for a good price at Target and you can print out coupons here.
On the personal front, I am falling apart. I am trying to keep my chin up but it sure is not easy. I got an email from my brother saying he does not plan on helping me at all with mom's arrangements and dissing me about how I have handled it. I am heartbroken... Until next time...

ReplyDeleteHere is a post I did about yogurt a while back!
I did a whole week of yogurt reviews a while back on my blog:)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your brother and how he's treating you. It's weird how family can be the one's to hurt us the most but don't forget you have an internet family too, and we're here for you!
ReplyDeleteBtw, Chobani makes a new apple yogurt that's pretty darn good too!
Sorry to hear about the brother situation Katie. Keep your chin up, you are strong and doing what is best for your Mom! Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'd be heartbroken, too. And I'm vindictive enough that I'd tell brother not to expect me to help him with anything in the future, if that is how he thinks. (Then I'd hope I'd calm down, but man, I want to slap him for ya.)
ReplyDeleteI like Fage. Only yogurt I buy anymore, since I don't do sugar, and all the diet ones suck butt. I mix my own fruit and nuts and sugar free preserves to make yogurt sundaes. :D And I use it like sour cream..dips, toppings on chili or potatoes, etc. Good stuff. Il ike the 2%. The fat free tastes funny to me. The full fat too fatty. 2% is just right, like Goldilocks said.
Hope your heart eases and you find solutions. And hope brother gets a clue.
Katie, thanks for your comment about the eczema. My husband is picking up my RX tonight for it. I'm hoping it works. Thanks for your offer though! Man...don't you just wish it were warm and sunny all the time so you didn't have to suffer from dry skin that just makes eczema even worse?! Blergh!
ReplyDeleteAlso, my dad has a heart condition (and he's had a gajillion strokes...and so he's blind in one eye). He goes to the see the docs all the time. He has bloodwork all the time, too. So far, he hasn't been diagnosed with Diabetes. This may sound rude of me to say about him, but...I don't know HOW he hasn't been diagnosed. The man can shotgun a whole dozen doughnuts in one sitting. I guess God gave him a little bit of a break? I think it has something to do with his weight and his sleep issue (he wears a mask at night to help him keep breathing). Poor dude. :( It's utterly depressing to watch someone you love so much tank the way I have. :(
I like greek yogurt, but only Fage - still, I'm glad you are moving toward the greek as it has a lot more protein than regular yogurt and I think is just better for you overall.
ReplyDeleteYour brother sucks. I wonder if this is his way of coping with your mother's decline...but still, it's crappy that you are getting the brunt of everything. I'm sorry about this.
I love Blood Oranges so I will have to try this one. Their Pomegranate one is good too.
ReplyDeleteAs for family, most of my anxiety is from my family but thankfully, I have only a small family. Sometimes I wish we could choose our family.
I'm sorry your brother's being an idiot :(
ReplyDeleteI like Greek yogurt. Chobani's not bad (and I like Okios -sp?- key lime), but Fage is my favorite. The 2% is amazing, and the 0% isn't bad either.
Your brother's behavior is detestable. You'll lay out for him exactly what is expected of him to remain a cherished sibling, otherwise it is perfectly sensible to cut out toxic siblings.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your brother. I know exactly what you're going through. My despair is also over my brother. He's sucking my father's life savings out of him and me and my other brother are afraid he's gonna start chipping away at the home equity. I'm thinking of you and sending you good vibes:) Lots of hugs too!
ReplyDeleteHere's the rule for your brother: You're not here, you're not helping, you don't get to comment.
ReplyDeleteLOVE their blood orange yogurt! Just tried it for the first time the other day. Delicious. I like the raspberry and the lemon flavors also.
ReplyDeleteLooks like maybe I should try Fage??? I prefer Oikos, but my absolute favorite is Chobani pineapple. Mmmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear your brother is treating you like that. Just know you are doing what you think is best, and thats all that matters! Hugs!
tagged you in a post today Katie! :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry your going through all this drama with your brother. I agree with all the other commentors on his character. Take good care of yourself and your mom do what is best for both of you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review on the yougurt.
*HUGS*
ReplyDeleteThe best Greek yogurt I have found is made by AE Dairy and I'd love to share it with you but it's very local... so next time you're in the midwest... :)
your brother is being a tool. He doesn't want to help but he feels entitled to telling YOU what YOU are doing is wrong?? Just who does he think he is?! I'm angry on your behalf. I hope he gets a clue sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteAnd I LUV greek yogurt. Fage is my favorite, but chobani is a very close second. I had passion fruit chobani yesterday and OMG, sooo good!
Your brother is an A**! I have one of those too, and he did the same thing to me (and my other brother) over and over. My mom is gone now, but he completely ripped the family apart. I have one other brother with whom I have a relationship, and that's OK. Hang in there. I know that these family situations are hurtful. Take care. You're doing well by your mom.
