Hanging Out

Happy May Day! I left my phone at work yesterday and I felt so lost without it. I don’t have a LAN line anymore so I was totally without a phone. Weird feeling let me tell you. It was nice not to hear it ringing though ;-)

I really need to go to the grocery store. I was scrambling to put together a meal last night and it was an utter failure. I ended up eating a weird combination of foods, all healthy of course but not usual stuff.

Since I went to the PT sessions, I noticed the strengthening of muscles and even my posture seems to be better. What I have also noticed more lately is the hanging skin everywhere on my body. I have no one to blame for it but myself but it is pretty disconcerting. In fact, it hangs more then when I was heavier. I can feel the muscles underneath but it is covered in loose skin. Getting a tummy tuck and boob lift has been on my radar since the beginning of this journey but it still makes me sad to see the damage I have done to my body. While I also dislike the waggle under my upper arms, I would prefer not to have the scars that come with that surgery. It is all in the future but it has been on my mind a lot lately.

My insurance will not cover the skin removal. I am going to lobby for them to give me consideration. I have enough other skin issues like NLD, eczema and HS and that could help my case. None of these skin conditions are curable but with weight loss and skin removal, it would help with the recurrence. I have time to start lobbying now so when the time comes, I will be prepared. The other option I was thinking of was to approach a local doctor and ask for a discount if I blog about it like Jen did.  Until next time...

  1. I'm pretty near the beginning of my weight loss journey, but I'm *SO* not looking forward to all the skin issues I know I'll have when I get to where I'm going. I get the feeling that I, too, am going to want to consider skin removal surgery (though I'm sure I won't like what it costs).

  2. It's hard to not think ahead to what you are going to look like, post weight loss, but try not to go there...you never know what might spring back, right?

  3. Loose skin is still better than fat filled skin! Don't forget! :) You are awesome!

  4. I would love to get rid of my arm skin, but like you don't want those scars. I am defiantly thinking of having some work done at the end of all this. I think that will be my 1 year anniversary present to myself. As in once I hit goal, then one year later get some surgery if I've kept it off.
