Moving forward

What a blur the last two weeks have been. I am doing okay. Still crying every day....

Things need to get done regardless of whether or not I want to do them. I am not working until the 16th (in-service) then we start school the 26th. Since it summer and the real estate market is hot here, we have decided to sell the house. I know it logically makes sense but it is still a little overwhelming to me emotionally. It is the only home I have ever known. We moved there when I was 3 years old.

My brother will be coming back this weekend to sort out the items we want to keep and then an Estate seller will come in and sell everything, take a cut and then give us the profit. Like both my aunts would say "Ya gotta buck up." Thanks to all of you who reached out and offered your prayers, condolences and virtual hugs. It means a lot to know you care and are thinking of me at this rough time.

Peace be with you,

  1. I extend my sympathies to you during this time after the passing of your mother and as you move forward. I lost my mother four years ago. It was and still is at times hard. The picture board that you made was really an incredible tribute to a life lived.

It will be very hard to go through your mom's things, but it is. Very important part of grieving and moving forward. Take care, Michele

  2. Oh Katie, my heart goes out to you so much. I know what you're going through right now - I lost my darling Mum on the very same day. We are just beginning the job of clearing Mum's house and saying goodbye to all of the things which remind us of her. Not easy, and I'm right with you when you said about things needing doing, even when we do not want to even think about them.

It's hard and it hurts and, like you, I find that tears well up at stray moments on a daily basis. Holding tight to the lovely memories of a wonderful Mum helps, a bit, and I guess things will become less difficult as time passes.

Until then, I'll send a Zen hug your way. Take care of yourself - it's easy to forget about ourselves at times like this but we need to stay strong too.
