Whoa!

It is Saturday afternoon about 2:00 p.m. I just got home from visiting my mom. It was a great but jaw dropping visit. I am adopted and so is my older brother. His was open and mine was closed. When my brother came to visit at Thanksgiving my mom gave him his adoption papers that were in the safe deposit box.

Well while we were driving to have brunch she told me this and told me that she is going to give me MY adoption papers... I instantly started to cry... I am actually crying as I type this... She told me not to cry while I was driving (Dave does too!) so I composed myself quickly and continued talking to her about it. I told her I recently had printed some information on the CA Dept. of Vital statistics which had ALL the documents you need to get your "original" birth certificate. Having these documents will only make the process that much easier. I never wanted to hurt my parents, especially my mom, by inquiring about my birth parents. My biggest concern has always been the medical background and nationality which I do not have any info on. I have lived in the same 15 mile radius of where I was born so if the birth mother stayed in the area she may be closer then I think. I am just trippin right now... Whew...

Hoping to get a walk in with Dave later and we are having Rotisserie chicken for dinner so calories will be low today. Hope you guys are having a nice weekend. Until next time...

  1. You definitely got some big news. I dont remember my birth father. I know where he lives, I've seen some old pictures of him, but never really met him in person. He used to beat my mom to the point where she was hospitalized several times, and shortly after my twin and I were born she got out of that horrible marriage and moved far away. So I can kind of relate to your story and identify with your feelings.

  10. I am sure your mind is racing with the news. God has a way of bringing into our lives exactly what we need when we need it. You have struggled alot over the past few months and maybe He knows it is time for some "gaps" to be filled up in your life. Hang in there and go with the flow, I think great things are in store. Let the peace of Christ dwell in your heart and mind! Thanks for you comments on my blog. We are going out of Florida to the eastern Carribian (sp?). I am starting my clothing fund because I have nothing (no exageration) spring/summer that fits! Good problem to have but a little weird to wrap my brain around. Blessings!

  14. Katie,
Good luck on your search for answers. I too was a closed adoption and I paid the agency here in Fl.to find my birth-mom and she wasn't open to meeting me so I hope you have a happier outcome. All this to say hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

  20. If I was adopted I would want to know who my *real* mother was as well...I cant imagine having to live one's life with this question hanging over your head..How does one - I have no idea as never walked in those shoes.
I think its great that you have those papers, now you can chose what the next steps are going to be...
I think deep down this could be the reason for your weight gain...its the pain and longing that you carry with you, its normally has nothing to do with food why we gain weight.
    This is great news...
