Up and Down

Took it easy last night but there was some major happenings upstairs. There was loud yelling going on and one of the neighbors called the police. There were 7 officers including S.W.A.T. They would not answer the door so the police got on the megaphone to get them to answer. It was pretty surreal let me tell ya. Everyone is okay and no one was taken away but sheesh. The noise level had been pretty good for the last month or so but they were pretty rowdy Thursday night in addition to last night.

I got a letter from the State of California Department of Social Services dated 5/18/10. It was in response to the letter I sent on 5/4/10 requesting Non-identifying information about my birth parents. The letter said that it was an agency or relinquishment adoption and the information should be obtained from the agency my adoption was through which is the Santa Clara County Adoption Agency on Julian St. in Downtown San Jose. It is just a few miles from where I live! Whoa! Through my research and help from Diane and Susan (love you ladies!!) I found out that I can get their identifying information because they relinquished their rights when they gave me up to the agency. I have left a message on voicemail and will send the information request to them. I still have to mentally process the prospect of knowing their identities. Even if I do get the information I am not sure how I will proceed yet. Wow... just wow...

I am still eating soft foods and actually not even logging food because I haven't been eating very much. I got on the scale this morning and it said 256 which is another 2 lbs. down. That is 1 lb. away from my lowest weight since I started. I am not sure it will be permanent but it sure was good to see that number again. Note to self: Need to measure. Hope you have a good day. Until next time..

  1. Wow - you have a lot going on! What a journey figuring out this birth parent stuff. Really excited to see how it unfolds!

And, good work on the loss, btw.

  2. Congratulations on the loss! Of course it won't be permanent--you will be going MUCH lower! :D

And, wow! is right. Big stuff re: your birth parents. Exciting and scarey all at the same time.

It's good to know, tho, if only for the family medical and social history. It will help you fill in some blank spots about you.

    I wish you well.

  3. Tom's father was adopted and never cared about finding out finding out who his biological parents were. I think the medical history alone would drive me crazy NOT to know .... aside from the fact that my mom was always a big genealogy fanatic and unknowns like that would drive her batty :)
    Congrats on the loss!

  4. Good job on losing the two pounds sorry about your dental woes.
Over the weekend I would be on the internet finding out about that agency their polices regarding non-id plus search if you want updated info and there fee stucture, plus CA state laws about what your entitled too. Don't be surprised if the info isn't free. Off the top of my head that is it. Have your read the book The Girls Who Went Away? Do you belong to any adoption support groups? Still here standing by....

  5. Me again Katie:) I went to their website to check them out and it looks like you can download the forms get them notarized and send them in all from home. Didn't see any $$ involved. I'm excited for you can you tell?

  6. Exciting news about the adoption stuff! Great job on the weight loss, 1 lb away is so attainable! It's always a good feeling to be back down to your lowest.

  7. So exciting about the info. I hope that you can get your head wrapped around it. That can be a lot to deal with...

...on to less exciting news. SEVEN!?!?! That's pretty loud. I wish they'd ripped them all out of the apartment and left you in peace with a juicy bit of mystery to discuss. Too bad they left them there. *grrrr*

    Hope you feel better soon.

  8. Yay you! Down two more. :D

Okay, your upstairs neighbours are major scary, girl. They need to go. I hope that you stay safe and have some peace, now.

I'm sorry about your dental problems. Tooth and mouth pain is just about the worst. Heal and feel better, soon.

Good luck in your search. *hug*

  9. Those 2 lbs will be permanent if you want them to be permanent! Just keep doing what you're doing! That's great news about your adoption. Lots to think about. Have a great rest of your weekend!

  10. What a crazy night - oh apartment living, how I do not miss you!

You are really kicking it with the weight loss, and I'll bet you just keep going down - tough way to do it, but congrats nonetheless!

  11. Hey congrats on the weight loss, sorry it is do to dental work. That is never fun.

You do have a lot to process regarding the adoption information. You must be excited and nervous all at the same time.

  12. The numbers come.....
    The numbers go......
It's the direction, not the micro-managed OCD number!!!!!!
    Having said that - congrats!!

  13. Congrats on the loss! This is great! Sounds like some interesting things going on in your life right now. Hope everything turns out good with finding out the info with the adoption papers.

  14. Hope it is permanent-can't wait to hear what you find out~
