Flying My Freak Flag

View from the campsite

Anklet I made

Wearing anklet I made

Hope you all had a nice weekend. I sure did! We had a good time at the 90th birthday. It was 95 degrees so thankfully, there was air conditioning. They had a nice spread of appetizer style foods like chicken satay, sliders and crab cakes. I hadn't eaten much in the morning so I made it my lunch and mom and I split a piece of cake. Dave and I had Chinese food for dinner. It was good but I ate too much and was way too full. I haven't felt like that in a long time.

Yesterday I got up and headed straight for Santa Cruz. I was concerned there would be too much traffic if I left late. I ended up getting there in a 1/2 hour and there was no traffic at all. I hung out all day since Dave wasn't done until 5:00 p.m. We made jewelery and then went down to the water. I am really self conscienceous about my legs because of my NLD and have only worn a bathing suit in public a few times. Well, I had capris on and Debby decided she wanted to roll them up so I wouldn't get wet and she rolled them above my knees. Her niece Julia and I played in the water, dug up sand crabs and hunted for jelly fish parts. Good times and I actually was flying my freak flag and nobody really noticed. Gave me more more confidence for next time. I made it back over the hill in about 45 minutes. There was more traffic coming home unfortunately.

I had a rock shrimp caeser salad for dinner and they always serve sourdough bread with their meals. Well, I ate some roasted garlic with Balsamic and Olive Oil. Garlic has some healthy benefits and one of them is digestive health if you get my drift. We got our walk in this morning but it was a quickie, just around the block. Tonight I am hoping to Wii it, make dinner and call it an early night. I am feeling a little bloated and I am not sure if it was the overindulging or if it is the creeping crud. Hoping the feeling goes away soon. Until next time...

  1. Glad you had a wonderful time. :o) It's a funny thing when that over-full feeling becomes a rarity and not the norm!

  2. Oooh, did you know Shelley talked about going from Santa Clara to Santa Cruz in her post today? Glad you had a good time at the beach, it sounded so relaxing.

  3. Glad you had such a good time and I love the anklet you made, very cute. And LOVE the tattoo! Good for you flying that freak flag and having fun!

  4. I had never heard of nld before-is it painful? Those pics looked like it. I say wear shorts/bathing suits and be proud!

  5. Sing it with me, Katie - "It's a small (blog) world, after all..." - how funny that we both posted about going over the hill!!! And wowsers, you made great time on your way there! Lovely picture - I hope to see that next month!

Glad you let your freak flag fly (love that expression, btw) - nice to do a normal thing, right? Pretty anklet, btw - what fun, to craft at the beach!

  6. Shrimp is a great food. It's so low in calories!

  7. Beautiful campsite! I love the ocean, but haven't been on vacation for a couple of years- I miss it!

Hope it was a great party!

  9. Hello! I'm checking in on people who follow/followed my blog and I'm so glad to see you're great success so far in your weight loss! I don't have time to follow as many blogs as I like but I do see you comment on some similar blogs that I do follow ( confusing.)

Anyway, keep up the good work! You're an inspiration!

  10. Hi Katie. Looks like a stunning beach. Glad you weren't snarled up in traffic too much and had a lovely day.
