Weekend Wrap-up

I posted this on Saturday and I think it is a summary of what I have been feeling: The time you've spent tending to family matters recently has probably been satisfying and maybe even fun, but it's definitely taken it out of you, too. Even when things go relatively well, there's an emotional component you just don't get with friends or at work that can be a bit exhausting. It's probably left you even more sensitive than usual, with your emotional nerve endings a little frayed. Take some time for personal renewal, doing whatever recharges you best.

Saturday a.m. I went to Zumba! Can you believe it??? It was a great class but I only lasted 1/2 way through it. I had not had anything to eat and was getting dizzy from low blood sugar so I opted out. It is a kick butt class and I met some nice ladies who go on Wednesday night at 6:30 as well so they told me to come then. Sidenote: I was definitely the biggest lady in the class.

After I got some nourishment, I called Danielle and we went to Clay Planet. I picked up some materials to paint! This is an example of what I got. I plan on making them as gifts for my new siblings and Uncle. It has been a LONG time since I painted but it is something that really makes me happy and relaxed so I was glad to finally go and get supplies.

Sunday was a relaxing day for the most part. We went out to breakfast and to Target.  I needed to get two lamps for the living room and some sheets. Later, we walked to the grocery store but that was about it for exercise on Sunday. I made BBQ chicken, rice and broccoli.

I'm a little miffed at my friend. She invited my mom to her house and did not invite me or tell me about it until after the fact. Her heart was in the right place but it just hurt my feelings they way it was presented to me. In a way, I am glad it came up because it allowed me to release some of the emotions I have had bottled up. I have had a few people in my day-to-day life that said I have handled all this bio family stuff remarkably well which I think I have done okay but Sunday I let it all out. I feel so much better now! Whew! I don't do well when I repress my feelings. The good news is I am learning not to stuff my face with food to feel better. Until next time...

  1. So much is going on in your life, Katie - things are bound to come out in weird ways. But you are handling everything well...and I like that you are sticking up for yourself.

Can't wait to see what you do with the ceramics!

  2. You are so right - better to rant to a friend than stuff your face! That's great progress.

  3. I was so jealous when I saw u where doing Zumba Saturday. I love Zumba and got to go tonight!!! I also got the new Nicholas Sparks book today... Can't wait to read it. Have u heard about it yet?

  4. They offer Zumba one day a week at my gym so I have to check it out-tonight I'm doing Body Combat. Tomorrow I may not be able to walk :)

  5. Zumba is still something i have yet to experience but everyone who does it recommends it. I will have to keep an eye out for it.

OOOO way to go on the painting. I like it.

*high fives* to not overeating due to emotional issues *hugs*

  6. I'm glad you enjoyed Zumba. I'm still debating over taking a class. :)

  7. Hey, Katie, there's an award for you on my blog. And if you ever get to painting ladybugs or bees again, let me know. :D Deb

  8. Have you asked the agency to search for your birth father? They were really quick finding your birth mom maybe they can help find him too. At that age time is of the essense don't put it off:) My birthdays coming up and my own adoption is back on my mind like always at this time of year:(

  9. Katie-its easy to focus on being the biggest one in the class but try to focus on you probably being the one in the class with the healtiest eating and a weightloss blog-you rock~

I'd love to know what's on your mind...
