It Doesn't Look Good

I squeaked by with a 779 deficit because of low activity. I got a call from Dave's sister and his mom is not going to be released from the hospital. She has an infection that will not respond to antibiotics and because of her age (84) they won't do surgery. They will basically make her as comfortable as possible until the end. I called and left word for Dave to call home because the prognosis was not good. They will not allow him to visit her but will allow him to attend the funeral. I personally think they should so he could at least say goodbye but what can I do. Until next time...

  1. So sorry. That sounds terrible. Hang in there.

  2. Wow, that's rough. I'm surprised they won't let him at least visit her to say goodbye. Hang in there, Katie.

  3. Oh gosh, I'm so sorry. I'd rather visit to say goodbye than attend a funeral. That seems backward to me--but that's just me.

    (((hugs)))

  4. They should let him go and say good-bye. I agree that it's more important than a funeral.

  5. I just wandered over here from my daughters blog. (RazzinAZ). Sorry to hear about the difficulties in visiting a sick relative. Seems backwards to me to prohibit a visit while someone is alive and may want to see a special person. Stay strong. You seem to be doing well on your journey. I wish you all the best.

  6. VRaz60 - Dave is my friend and he is in a Program for a Drunk Driving. He is enrolled for 6 months and the first 30 days he can't make any outside contact even under these extenuating circumstances. It is his mother that is dying.

  7. Oh no! That's awful! I think it's ridiculous that he can come out for the funeral, but not to see his mother while she's still alive! That's just infuriating!
