Fabulous Monday

Flowers from the Farmer's Market

How was your weekend? Mine was really good! Friday night we cleaned in preparation of Deb and Larry coming over for dinner. We had to rearrange a few things to get them put away. Saturday I went to Race Street and got some Oregon Fresh Salmon. It was $19.99/lb! So for the 4 of us it was $43 worth of salmon. After I got the fish, I walked the Farmer's Market and got flowers, broccoli, golden potatoes and some homemade Strawberry bread. I had intended on making dessert but I saw that bread and could not resist. Went home and continued cleaning until jumping in the shower to get ready for their arrival.

The meal turned out fantastic! Larry made a comment saying they don't eat as much as they used to... well they both completely cleared their plates!! In fact, Deb said she would have eaten a small bite left on her plate but it had fallen on the floor. It was such a big compliment to hear my cooking mentor saying that it is the best salmon meal she has ever had :-D The recipe is super simple but I think that is why it is so good (My dad taught me how to make it) We played bowling on the Wii for a little while and then we called it a night.

Yesterday was fairly uneventful. I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic on DVD and cleaned up the kitchen. I don't have a dishwasher so it's all by hand baby. We did KFC for dinner so we didn't have to mess up the kitchen again. I had a Twister and a Cole slaw. Dave had that weird Double Down sandwich with the two pieces of chicken with cheese and bacon in the middle. It doesn't even sound good to me. We had fresh strawberries for dessert.

I was graciously awarded a Fabulous Blogger Award from Helen at Doing a 180 and am passing it on to 6 other bloggers who have had an influence on me. It was SO hard to come up with only 6 but here they are:
  1. Kate at Fabulous at 50. Kate is brutally honest and realistic. She has come a long way and has done it with grace and style
  2. Anne at Carb Tripper has been along for the ride since the beginning. Her support, kindness and wittiness keep a smile on my face
  3. Angie at Who do you choose today? She is super crafty and also very supportive. She just reached a 100 lbs. lost
  4. Diz at Death by Calories She is fairly new on the block but she is a sweet gal and a fellow California girl.
  5. Candace at Believing in C - C is Me. Candace is my Canadian Soul sister. She is also my new bodybugg buddy :-)
  6. Paula at Paulawannacracker is a hard working gal who can cook like there is no tomorrow!
Nothing exciting planned for tonight. Dave doesn't have a game so he is going to cook. He is in the mood for London Broil so we may have that. Also, since I did not make the Apple salad, I want to try doing that tonight. Helen may even let me share the recipe ;-) Hope you all had a good weekend! Until next time...

P.S. OMG, I have 299 followers! That is just C-R-A-Z-Y!

  1. Katie, I can't believe you didn't even have one tiny bite of that crazy KFC thing. Confession: I don't want one but I do want to try just one bite of one! Your meal sounds fabulous, especially the strawberry bread. OK, I'm off to look at your Fabulous Bloggers!

  2. I'm a member of the "no dishwasher" club as well (and what I wouldn't give to have one), and I'm not a big fan if doing dishes. Many times, I've gazed longingly at those portable dishwashers.

Strawberry bread sounds fantastic, and salmon too. Mouthwateringly so. And lunch is still an hour away. Eep.

  3. Mmmm. Salmon. Or Strawberries. Sounds so so good.

That movie sounds good. I've been going to check it out. I'm glad you had a good time!

  4. Oh salmon sounds good. I will have to have my hubby grill some soon! Sounds like a really great weekend!! Love the flowers!! They say summer!

  5. Strawberry bread? Never heard of it, but it sounds yummy!! Woohoo for Oregon Salmon! We've got the best! ;-) Glad you had a wonderful weekend.

  6. Strawberry Bread! That sounds amazing! Want.

  7. Glad you had such a good weekend, and I love that you walked to the Farmer's Market - what a completely healthy experience!

  8. All the food sounds delicious and especially the strawberry bread....YUM!! To tell the truth, I've never even heard of the KFC Double Down, but I probably would have eaten one or two before I started losing weight! Sad, huh?

Going to check out the other Fabulous Bloggers!

  9. Katie J! I think that double down is weird too. :) I have NO desire to try it whatsoever- haha, this post was great. And thank you so much for the blog award! So sweet of you to think of me. Xoxoxo!

  10. Hiya
    And thanks again!!!
    Love your blog!

  11. If I knew how to follow you, I could be #200! I am little behind in the tech world! It's funny, I don't even Twitter but I have followers!

OMG, my husband got that KFC - he said it just came wrapped in paper - gross is right!

I bought Chilean sea bass for dinner tonight - its the one fish I like, but sadly its $21.99 a pound! My fillet cost $10! Hope I don't screw it up!

    The flowers are gorgeous!

  12. I have never had salmon.. or strawberry bread and now I think I want some! I liked your post today, you fabulous blogger award has given me some new blogs to follow. I am new and still trying to figure out this blog following stuff :)

  13. Hi Katie. Wow! That salmon is certainly expensive. Glad your recipe worked out so well!

    Beautiful flowers too.

    Bearfriend xx

  14. OOOO I love salmon, maybe you can share the recipe :) That strawberry bread sounds divine. Glad you had a great weekend and an awesome meal. We have a DW but it doesnt work well so I wash everything by hand. Guess it is a good thing that there is only 4 of us and we still have a buttload of dishes because we make almost everything from scratch.

Ps.. yes I am planning on getting more tattoos I love them and I am addicted LOL :) Thanks for stopping by and checking it out my tattoo artist actually drew that herself and I really liked so I let her tattoo it on me :)

  15. Yeah...I think saying that is was so good you'd eat if it were off the floor is a great can blog about your creation if you want to...I'm waiting to take notes!

  16. Sounds like a yummy meal! That sandwich sounds like something my hubby would try, too, doesn't appeal much to me either!

  17. ahhh the DOUBLE DOWN.
is it weird I wanna witness that thing in person just once?!
my husband would adore it as well...

  18. Salmon is very expensive and I'm so scared that I would ruin a good piece of salmon that I won't even attempt it. But maybe your recipe just might work. Katie, thank you for the award and thank you for saying I can cook. I never think of myself as a cook, let alone a good one. Thank you very much.

Also Strawberry bread sounds different but good. I too would have bought it. Sounds like you had a productive day with the cleaning, farmers market and entertaining.

    Thank you again.

  19. Glad you had a great weekend-thanks for giving me the award~

I'd love to know what's on your mind...
