Beware The Ides of March

Have you ever heard of the Ides of March? It basically means the middle of the month on the Roman calendar and it is also the day Julius Caeser was killed (44 B.C.) He was stabbed 23 times... that I did not know.

I went to my Personal Training appt. as planned. I got ready 5 mins before I left work so I was ready to jump in. His name is Tim and he is 23 (half my age!) and I really liked him. He was very informed and actually quizzed me on my knowledge of certain things and was impressed that I knew most of what he asked. We did some time on the elliptical to help determine my target heart rate. We also did quite a few lunges and he gave me pointers on proper form. I learned that you are supposed to stretch for a minimum of 30 seconds which I did not know. We are meeting again tomorrow at my lunch hour and he is going to show me a few more things and most likely, I will sign up for future sessions. It is a chunk of change but they will also accept payments which I did not know was an option and then Dave reminded me I could use my tax refund to pay for it. 5 sessions is $375 ($75/hr) and 10 sessions is $720 ($72/hr) They do have a 20 session option but it is $1,300 which is more then my rent so that is not happening!

I told Tim that I wanted to lose 40 lbs. by the end of Septemeber for Fitbloggin and he thought it was totally doable. (1.6 lbs. per week) That would bring me to 100 lbs. lost. He also said he would like to see me on their success wall! I am not sure if he was just saying it as a selling tactic (cynical much?) but he said that I have proven I can be successful and that there is no reason why I couldn't. Hmmm...

Today I am 254. I have skirted posting that because it is a gain of 2 lbs. but in the grand scheme of things it is actually okay. Over the last two weeks it has been up and down so ending up on the lower end of the 250s was a good thing believe it or not. Until next time...

  1. I am SO HAPPY that you stuck to your plans and went to your training session. The great thing about having a personal trainer is that they will push you when you can't push yourself.

  2. Proud of you for going...the other day when I was treadmilling it at the gym, I was watching the trainers work with clients and thinking "hmmm, might be time to give that a go again" - they focus on you, and let's face it, you can't exactly get away with not working out when they're right next to you, lol.
