Happy Birthday Mom and Dad


Nothing exciting to report for yesterday. I did do some household chores and did not have the bugg on so I am sure there was more calories burned. Today, June 30th is both my Mom and Dad's birthday. My dad was 3 years older then my mom. He died on April 12, 1999 at 68. My mom is 76 today. She is a tough lady let me tell you. She has survived the loss of her husband of 44 years, Breast Cancer and a Triple Bypass plus a valve repair on her heart and now the Macular Degeneration. It is so hard to see your parents get older... big sigh... I have had the pleasure of becoming friends with with my mother and I am so grateful to have her in my life. Happy Birthday Momma! We are going to the Outback for dinner. We always order the same thing which is the Filet Mignon, Salad and Baked Potoato. I will probably bring home the potato and part of the steak for another meal and just eat steak salad and bread instead. Today we are going to lunch at Bucca de Beppos for a farewell luncheon. Should do fine on food but will have to practice some self control with the bread. The Vice President of our company is retiring after 30+ years. I am happy for her but it will just not be the same without her. It is going to be interesting to see how things change around here this summer. Until next time...

Numb Monday


Didn't get much activity in with the heat plus I had a few cocktails so that is the reason for the low deficit. I made it through the dentist appt. I did tear up with the Novocaine shot but did okay otherwise. Helped that I had my Ipod with me. Note to self: Do not schedule dental appointments for Monday at 8:00 a.m. What was I thinking?? Scorcher Sunday


I took off the bugg when we did the pottery and when we walked down to the pool so I did burn more calories then what is shown. Today it got to 108 degrees! I didn't work on the closet and went to my friends bar which was a cool 70 degrees. I have a dentist appt. in the morning to get a filling. I have never had a cavity like this before. I am a little apprehensive but it should be fine. Until next time...

Crafty Saturday


Last night was uneventful. Pretty much just kicked it with the dog and watched t.v. They are the only people I know that do not have Cable. They are both avid readers though so I can see why they don't. Had a great day today even though it was 103! We made some pottery at our friend Karen's. I made a bowl for Danielle's kitty Gretta. After we did that we went down to the pool. Tonight is the first time back at my apartment and no Dave which seems odd but refreshing actually. At least I can use the remote! Tomorrow I am planning on going to church and then hopefully working on my closet and trying to stay cool. Hope you are all having a good weekend! Until next time...

No Weigh Friday



Well I did okay throughout the day but last night I ended up eating a small bite of brownie, a small bite of coffee cake and 5 graham crackers (10 squares) and therefore the low deficit. The good news is at least the graham crackers were lowfat - hahaha. I decided not to weigh myself this week. I am not adding insult to injury. I have not been active at all and with my birthday last weekend I am just going to wait until next Friday. I did add some progress pics for June. Not too much of a difference from the last ones but I do want to add them monthly. Here is a picture of Titan. It was about 6:05 a.m. morning and he was yawning when I took the pic.



I will be staying there tonight and half the day tomorrow and then back to my place. It is goingto be odd being there by myself but I am sure I will adjust to it quickly. Until next time...

Hard to Say Goodbye




Nothing to exciting to report about yesterday. Steps: 5,203 and 20 mins of activity.

I have been super emotional this week. The good news is I am not binging. This morning I dropped off my "friend" Dave at the Salvation Army. He is finally getting the help that he needs and even though I know it is a good thing it was hard for me to say goodbye. (Have I mentioned that I am a crybaby?!?) He will be in the program for 6 months and the first month there is no contact except for letters. After the first 30 days, they can make phone calls and have some visitation privileges. Our relationship has been tumultuous and has had more downs then ups but I am still sad. Even though I posted in April that things were over, we eventually made peace AGAIN and he had been staying at my place until today. I just have to keep reminding myself it is a good thing for him AND for me. Until next time...

NSVs and Stuff


Yesterday was just a bad day. Did fine on eating but activity was lacking. I just not in the mood. Alas, today is a new day and things are better. I have had some NSVs that I wanted to mention. The biggest one is that I was able to stop taking one of my water pills. I have been monitoring my blood pressure and it has actually been low. I have 4 more pills to ditch. There are two BP meds, Cholesterol and Zantac. Oh and of course the insulin. I have been able to cut my dosage in half. Some other NSVs are that I am down two sizes. When I started in January, I was busting out of 26/28s and now can wear 24s comfortably. Also, when I drive my mom's car, I have to adjust the seat and I got in the other day and was able to use her seat settings. She is tiny and weighs like 135 soaking wet so that was interesting! People are noticing the weight loss (if I haven't told them!) and that sure feels good. I have been even getting more male attention. I am not sure if it is because I look slimmer or that I feel better inside and out... whatever it is I will take it :-) The other thing that has been banging around in my noggin is a new goal. Short term it will be 50 lbs. It would be fantastic to lose it by cruise time but not sure if it can be done (24 days/10 lbs.) My next big goal is 80 lbs. If I were to continue to lose at the same rate of 1.6 lbs and multiplied it by 52 weeks in the year the total is 83.2 so my goal is to lose 80 by the end of the year. I am going to Fish Market with mom tonight per usual. Starting tomorrow, I will be dog sitting until Saturday night. It is for my mom's neighbors. They have a Golden Retriever and his name is Titan. He is blonde and he is HUGE. He is the biggest Golden I have ever seen. I call him "Big Boy" It always throws me off when I go there because I am out of my element but it just for a couple days so... P.S. I forgot to mention... The Biggest Loser is for Families this time around. I don't have another family member that is overweight AND would do the show with me. Oh well... it was fun to think about it and I am doing pretty okay on my own so it will just take longer then if I had been on the show...

Role Reversal


I went home from work yesterday because I had a belly ache. Sunday night I had eaten Pork Ribs and Macaroni Salad for dinner. Maybe the pork did not agree with me or something but I was miserable. I drank lots of fluids and feel okay now. My mom had called me to ask if I could go with her to an eye doctor appt. this morning. It was first thing this morning so it was not too inconvenient for my employer. She has Macular Degeneration and it is progressing. Dr. D told her she needs to limit her driving to familiar areas. She is pretty freaked out and I am glad that I was there to hear what he had to say. After we got home she said "This is role reversal, you are taking care of me now" I am so glad that I can be there for her but... big sigh... Until next time...

Back to Reality


Had a great birthday! I gave myself the day off as far as watching calories. I am just thankful that I even had a deficit. I didn't go overboard but I did have a few cocktails so the calories added up quickly! I also had Strawberry Shortcake for desert. My friend bought a single size piece and we shared it. Last year I would have eaten it by myself so that is major progress in my book. My goal is to reach my ideal weight by my next birthday and to be off all the medications I am taking now. P.S. I am mad at the darn calendar. For some reason it won't update when I add activities to it. I had already created one and it stopped working so I made this one and it doing the same thing. Grrrrrr... I do have the data in the bugg software so maybe I will just add them to my posts or screenshots.

Wonderful Weekend

The Bodybugg website is down so no screen shots. I wonder why they don't do maintenance in the middle of the night when it doesn't impact as many people. I swear I should work for them! Anyhoo, I am having a wonderful weekend. Last night we went and saw Up and it was super cute. Loved it and yes, I did cry! So did my brother awwwww... Then we went to Cheesecake Factory. I ordered a small salad which was still big so I only ate half and one piece of bread. I had two bites of my brothers cheesecake. Yummers! Today we had brunch and then I had an early dinner so doing good on calorie intake. I am going to watch Madagascar 2 tonight and go to bed early so I can be at the beach for breakfast. Fun but Freaky Friday


I did confirm the 3.5 lb. loss this morning on the scale just to be sure! Good numbers again yesterday. There are big changes happening at work again. Two people resigned and one person was fired just this week. It got a little emotionally draining so I opted for a nap instead of going to the gym to get the tour. Today, as a birthday present to myself, I am getting my eyebrows waxed and my eyelashes and eyebrows dyed. I have been seeing a few "blond" ones so I thought it would be a nice treat. I am going to have to be very mindful of food and alcohol this weekend. Tonight, we are going out to dinner and going to see UP in 3-D and tomorrow we are having brunch with my extended family. Sunday (my actual birthday) I am going to the coast to Half Moon Bay and then come back in the afternoon and have dinner with another friend of mine. Should be a wonderful weekend! Woowee I will be 43! Until next time...

Terrific Thursday!!!


I had such a great evening AND a nice deficit, yay! I got 9,536 steps in and 1 hour 8 mins of activity in which was a bonus.


OMG! I can't believe I ate the whole thing! Just kidding! Actually I did really well with dinner. We didn't eat until 8:30 so I ate lighter then I would have had it been earlier. I had a small portion of lasagna, A bite of salmon, a small Ceasar salad and 2 small pieces of bread. I had 3 FANTASTIC bites of the cheesecake. It was phenom! Soooooooooooooo, I decided to get on the scale this morning. For months my weigh day was Thursday and holy cow... I am down 40 LBS.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I lost 3.5 lbs. this week!!! What is so exciting for me is to know that I met my goal AND I still have 30 days before the cruise! I am picking up my brother at the airport tonight. It is close to the new gym so I am going to go in and get the tour, workout and then head over to get him. My mom lives about 15 miles from the airport so it won't be too late. I need my beauty sleep you know =) Until next time...

Lesley's Graduation


Did well yesterday. I love 4 digit deficits! It was a normal day of running around but it all added up. I had 6,259 steps and 37 mins. of activity. Tonight is a graduation for my "unofficial" Goddaughter, Lesley Anne. I am going to attend the ceremony and then her mother is hosting a dinner at Buca di Beppo which is a Family style Italian restaurant. I should do fine with the food. The bread is super yummy so I will have to be careful about that and desert if served. I won't drink because I will be doing lots of driving. Until next time...

Tuesday Tales


Well I never made it to the gym last night. Grr... There was a big accident that had the freeway at a standstill. The truth is I could have done surface streets but it seemed like a big effort and it is my usual M.O. on Monday nights to be lazy. I am trying to retrain my brain on that one but obviously I failed. Last night I had the Whole Wheat pasta for the first time and I liked it. It had a good flavor and at least some nutritive value. I also tried some canned Salmon. I had never tried it before either. I put 3 oz. on a salad with some Thousand Island. It was delish! It was a little salty but I am a salty fan so it didn't bother me. Nicole told me this morning that there are going to be Biggest Loser tryouts at the new gym. It is on Saturday, June 27th. I would LOVE to go on the show but my only concern would be the world would see my NLD. Otherwise I think it would be the opportunity of a lifetime! Stay tuned for more details! Tonight I am going to Fish Market with my Mom. I am going to a graduation tomorrow so I had to reschedule our usual Wednesday visit. Until next time...

Lazy Sunday


I didn't go overboard on food but did not get in any activity so that is why there is such a low deficit. I definitely need to work on getting in more activity on the weekends. I am not doing very well with my June Goals either. Having a hard time getting in the 6,500 steps AND water. The new gym will help motivate me to get there at least 2x per week. Tonight I am going to get the proper tour of the 24hr Super Sport since I didn't have time on Saturday to stick around. I will most likely do the treadmill afterwards. Tonight, for dinner, I am going to try some Whole Wheat Pasta which I have never had before so that should be interesting. Until next time...

The Office vs. The Hangover


I got a decent deficit yesterday so I am happy with that. My mom decided she did not want to work on the office and wanted to go see a movie instead. She said she wanted to see The Hangover and I was a little shocked. She is fairly hip for being in her 70s though. I had heard mixed reviews and she usually looks at the reviews in the newspaper so I figured it was safe. Well... I thought it was totally funny but the language, sexual content and drug references were not something I expected my mom to handle very well. Surprisingly she thought it was funny too and did admit that she didn't understand some of the things that were said. I told the gal next to me that I was with my mom and she said her 81 year old Aunt had suggested that she and her hubby see it! Next Saturday we are going to see UP in 3D so that will be cool. Run Around Saturday


Didn't get my target deficit for two reasons: Wine and Chili's. I had Chicken tacos so I did not go overboard. Good news is that I even had a deficit. Today is going to be a busy day. I am going over to the brand new 24hr fitness near my house to add it to my membership. I have an All Club membership but apparently you need to pay more to use this facility. The good news is it is only $10 more per month because they are running a special. The last time I called they wanted $50/mo. more so this is a good deal! Hope you all have a great day! New Decade!

Well I have entered a new decade! I am down another 1.5 lbs which brings me to 278.5 or 36.5 lbs total. I have not been at this weight in over three years. Yay!!! I am so close to my short term goal of 40 lbs. and it is super motivating!

Last night I was able to get through an entire Cardio workout on the Leslie Sansome Walking DVD. I was not in the mood to do it but she kept saying "You can do it!" and I did =)

It amazes me that I have 72 followers! Before I started blogging, I had heard of blogs but never knew there was a whole community of bloggers. I feel so blessed that you guys care to read what I have to say and take the time to encourage, support and root me on. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You guys rock!

Should be a nice weekend and hopefully I will get in lots of activity. I am going to help my mom with her home office. Her doctor told her she needs to increase her exercise. She is not overweight but is anemic and has had heart surgery. She is not sedentary but does need to incorporate some cardio into her day. I am going to look for a workout DVD for Seniors for her birthday.

Typical Thursday


Yesterday was basically uneventful. Went to the Fish Market as usual. I had the Australian Swordfish and it was yummy! Only got in about 20 mins. of activity which I pretty much anticipated. I need to step it up BIG time tonight since weigh in is tomorrow. I also need to make sure I get in all my water. Blech. By the way, I had to recreate the workout calendar but now it seems to be working properly. Hopefully it stays that way. On another topic... My brother is coming to visit next week. June has always been a busy month in my family. My folks were married on June 19th, my birthday is June 21st, Father's Day is June 21st, My parents shared the same birthday on June 30th and my brothers birthday is July 8th. It is almost like a second Christmas. Since my dad has passed, some of these celebrations are bittersweet (especially for Mom) and so it will be good to have my brother here as a distraction. Wonderful Wednesday


I had a good day yesterday. I had dinner with Danielle (included 2 glasses of wine) and still managed to achieve my target deficit so I am okay with that. I did not get any activity in but should be able to tonight or for sure tomorrow.

At the beginning of May, I wrote a letter to my Property Management company asking if I could sign a lease and reduce my rent. Well, I got home yesterday and there was a note on the door saying "Reduced rent for those who are interested in signing a new lease!" When I originally wrote the letter I was thinking... the worse they could say was "No" right? She even mentioned that she appreciated the fact that I have been cleaning up after the other tenants in the laundry room. I will be calling her a little later this morning to lock in the reduced rent. Yay for me!!!! Until next time...



P.S. For some reason, the Workout calendar isn't showing my workouts! I will work on it tonight but I didn't want anyone to think I haven't done anything since Saturday.

Spin, Spank and Giddy Up!


Had a good day yesterday! Usually Mondays I am burnt and I don't schedule anything for that reason. I am trying to retrain my brain on this. Why limit yourself right? Anyways, I ended up doing 12 minutes of the Flirty Girl DVD. It was fun! I can now do Spin, Spank and Giddy Up! Woohoo! These are preview DVDs so I imagine the "real" ones have longer segments. This one just had 10 mins for each section which was the Instructions, The Routine and then the Sexy Stretch. Did not get all my steps in but came close and did well on food. Until next time...

I was an absolute slug yesterday! The good news is that I adjusted my calories so I would have a good deficit. I managed to get a few errands in and a few chores done around the house but slept and watched movies the rest of the day. I got my Flirty Girl DVDs on Saturday so I plan on doing one tonight. Can't Say Golf Tournament


Yesterday was the Annual Can't Say Golf Tournament. It ended up being in the 80s which was just awesome. Last year it was 102! I was the official photographer this year so I ended up getting 9811 steps! I met some new people and had a great dinner afterwards. I also did really well on food. They had T-bone steaks, green salad, corn on the cob, scalloped potatoes, fruit salad and dinner rolls. I skipped the potatoes and the fruit salad (allergic to pineapple) and had a huge plate of mixed green salad. I didn't eat the whole steak either. My stomach is just not used to red meat anymore. I am sore this a.m. for sure but it was a wonderful day!

Fab Friday!


Had a good day yesterday even though I was so tired. Met all my targets with calories, steps and activity level. I have the digital display watch for the Bodybugg and I forget to use it sometimes but I used it yesterday. Each time you achieve a particular goal an alarm goes off so it is like a little cheerleader. I had forgotten how motivating it was to hear those alarms!

Well I got on the scale this morning and dat ta da da... 2 lbs. lost this week! I can't tell you how happy I am! I am down 35 lbs!!! I am so close to my mini goal of 40 lbs. I can taste it! It also got me to thinking... the most I have ever lost at one time is 40 lbs. about 12 years ago when I was first diagnosed with Diabetes. I was "dieting" and was able to keep it off for awhile but eventually gained it back and then some. This time I am going to triple that number AND keep it off for good because I have changed my LIFE. Sleepy Thursday


Had a nice time at the banquet but I sure am tired today! Did really well on food. They had hors d'oeuvres so I had a little cheese and crackers and of course for dinner I had the Eggplant. Then came the delectable dessert. It was soooo sweet that I only took three bites and left it alone. It was kinda like a truffle but whew it was good.


I had Nicole take some pics of me but I am not happy with them (go figure!) but this one is tolerable. Looking forward to a time where I won't mind getting my picture taken *sigh* I peeked at the scale this morning and it said I was down 2 lbs! I almost changed my weigh day to today but figured I might jinx it so I will keep it official and wait until tomorrow.
